Monk
Base Class: Monk

Some monks, specially in ancestral lands, find harmony between land and magic, between nature and humanity. They keep their ways secret to the rest of the world, as they learn to commune with and protect natural spirits: living beings that are made of and seethe druidic magic.

Through training, some monks can align their ki to that of the spirits and the spirit world itself, and call upon them for aid when the time requires it. Though, of course, this connection goes both ways, and monks that walk this path often find themselves as nomads, travelling the world and helping wayward natural spirits in their endeavors.

Spiritual Sight

Beginning when you choose this path at 3rd level, you have attuned yourself to the spiritual world. You can see into the Ethereal Plane, and whenever you are talking to a spirit, it can understand you, regardless of its type or languages you know.

Ki Spirit

At 3rd level, your ki is attuned to the Spirit Realm. As a bonus action on your turn, you summon an ethereal spirit in a space you can see within 60 feet, and you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest. When this spirit manifests, you choose which form it takes, between a Chaos, Grave or Order spirit.

The spirit is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your commands. See this creature's game statistics in the Ki Spirit stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. If the spirit is reduced to 0 hit points, or after one minute, it dissipates. If your Ki Spirit is ever more than 60 feet from you, it uses its movement to teleport to an unoccupied space within 60 feet of you.

In combat, the spirit shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. The only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn or expend a Ki point on its turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the spirit can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.

Vigilant (Order only). The spirit can’t be surprised.

Insidious Glare. (Grave Only) A hostile creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of the spirit must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Ki Save DC or become frightened. A creature that succeeds on this saving throw is immune to this effect for 24 hours, and an undead makes this saving throw with disadvantage.

Summoning Strike (Chaos Only). When this spirit manifests, it makes an unarmed attack against a creature in range.

Actions

Attack. The spirit makes an unarmed or sword attack. At 11th level, it can make two of these attacks

Unarmed Attack. Melee Weapon Attack: your Wisdom modifier + your PB to hit, Reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: your Martial Arts Die + your Wisdom modifier bludgeoning damage.

Sword Attack (Grave and Order only) Melee Weapon Attack: your Wisdom modifier + your PB to hit, Reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d4 + your Martial Arts Die + your Wisdom modifier slashing damage.

Dimensional Trick (Recharge 5-6) (Chaos only) The spirit magically swaps places with you.

Reaction

Deflect Attack (Chaos only). The spirit imposes disadvantage on the attack roll of one creature it can see that is within 5 feet of it.

Second Self

At 6th level, you can use an action to enter a trance, seeing through your Ki Spirits eyes as if they were your own. While in this trance, you are blind and deaf to your own senses. This trance lasts until you dismiss it (no action required).

Ki Reserve

At 11th level, when your Ki spirit is reduced to 0 hit points, you regain a number of Ki points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1), and whenever you are within 30 feet of your spirit, the spirit can add 1d4 to attack rolls, ability checks and saving throws.

One of Two Worlds

At 17th level, the bond between yourself and the spirit world has become perfected. You may cast the Etherealness once per long rest without expending a spell slot.

Additionally, once per turn, you can expend 2 ki points to command your Ki Spirit an additional time, without expending a bonus action, and whenever you start your turn within 30 feet of the Ki Spirit, you gain temporary hit points equal to half your monk level + your Wisdom modifier.
