Base Class: Rogue
Information has always been power for you. It's a part of your life to find hidden information that others don't want to see. Perhaps it's to gain a political or competitive advantage. Perhaps it's to answer a question. Perhaps it's to expose corrupt individuals. Either way, you're going to find it.
Hacking
Starting at 3rd level, you can use the bonus action granted by your Cunning Action to make an Intelligence check against a creature or mechanical object within 10ft, adding your proficiency bonus to the roll.
If you choose a creature, they roll a wisdom save, DC equal to the total of your roll. On a failure, you have advantage on the next charisma or intelligence check against the creature within one minute, or the next attack roll you make before the end of your next turn.
If you choose a mechanical object and succeed on the roll, you gain temporary control of the object and access to any information stored within the object. You can use an action to control any mechanical object you have control over, at the DM's discretion. You can have a number of objects controlled this way up to your intelligence modifier. A mechanical object leaves your control if you are ever more than 30ft away from it.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in History and Insight.
Always Have a Backdoor
Starting at 9th level, as a bonus action you can place a "Backdoor", which is a special device that attaches to any horizontal flat surface. The device can either be placed manually, or thrown up to 15 feet. You can only have one of these placed at any given time, and placing one causes any previously existing ones to self destruct. While placed, you can use an Action to teleport back to it's location if it is within 60ft of you. The device has an AC of 10, 5 HP, and is immune to psychic or poison damage.
Improved Tech
By 13th level, you have improved your gear enough to make your talents even more adept. Your maximum hacking range is now 20 feet, you can have a number of hacked items equal to twice your intelligence modifier, you can throw your Backdoor 30 feet, and your Backdoor works up to 90ft away.
E.M.P.
When you reach 17th level, you have turned a skill into unrivaled talent. Once per short rest as an action, you can hack every creature or mechanical object of your choice within 30ft of yourself, including through walls. Hacking done this way automatically succeeds, not requiring a roll.
