Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

A Wizard that chooses to become a Puppeteer of their own creations, and give the dolls life through the blood of their own. They may choose to use Hemocraft to power the dolls because they recognize that blood is one of the most powerful sources of power, or, they may not have any other choice of power source to begin with. But no matter why they choose to use blood, they must remember the fact that it is forbidden. They control the dolls just as if they were a familiar, giving them commands and moving them wherever they see fit. But eventually, the doll will be able to do much more than just fight.

Blood Doll

Starting at level 2, you have learned to create a doll powered by the blood of the living. When you end a short rest you can spend 1 silver piece worth of materials and 1 hit point to create a Blood Doll (see Blood Doll stat block).

Blood Doll Stats

As a bonus action on your turn you can give the doll(s) a command (if you have more than one doll, each can be given a different command with that bonus action), and they will continue to follow it until they cannot or you command them to perform a different task.

The dolls must remain within 100 ft of you, or they cease to function. The dolls will always do their best to stay within 100 ft, however, if you or a doll are forced more than 100 ft from each other, the doll drops to the ground, becoming incapacitated until you move back within 100 ft of it.

If the doll drops to 0 hit points, but not destroyed completely, you can salvage the parts in order to create a new doll at the end of your short rest, however you must use the Mending spell of make a DC 15 DEX check using either Weaver’s, Leatherworker’s, or Tinker’s tools, otherwise the scraps are not usable.

If the doll takes damage, you can heal it up to its natural maximum with the Mending cantrip. Each usage of Mending heals the doll by 1d6+your INT mod.

Strength from Blood

The doll can increase its hit points beyond its maximum by providing it with blood, either your own, or the blood of the recently deceased. You may spend 1 minute completing a ritual to add blood to your doll.

Providing it with your own blood gives it equal to the amount sacrificed. If you find a corpse that has died within the last 24 hours, you can instead use the fallen creatures blood to fill the doll, so long as it had any blood in life, and has not already been drained by way of a vampire, another blood doll, or likewise ability or procedure (DM discretion). If the corpse is from a human or celestial, the doll regains hit points up to 1/2 the creature's hit point maximum. If the corpse is from any other kind of creature that had blood, such as a beast or aberration, the doll gains up to 1/4 the creature's hit point maximum. The dolls hit points cannot be increased by more than 10 times your proficiency bonus in this way.

In addition, you can spend the hit points of the doll to power your spells. The doll must be within 100 ft, you cannot reduce a doll to below 0 hit points, and you cannot cast spells over 5th level. Casting a spell in this way costs 10 hit points per spell level, and you cannot cast spells beyond the level you can normally. This damage cannot be reduced in any way.

Doll Proficiency

At level 6, you gain the ability to make a second doll, and have found a new way to utilize them.

Your dolls have now gained the ability to hold concentration on spells for you. To do this, the doll must be within 20 ft of you to activate this ability, and cannot go beyond this range. Should the doll move away from you, it instantly loses concentration, it also loses concentration if it suffers any damage.

Additionally, your dolls weapons now count as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistance and immunities.

Blood Sacrifice

At level 10, you have learned how to use your collected blood to negate damage done to you; if you take damage while a doll is within range of you, you can have the doll absorb the damage for you. This damage cannot be reduced in any way.

You can perform this feat a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier, and regain expended uses after finishing a short rest.

Blood Mastery

At level 14, you have mastered the art of blood dolls, allowing you to further increase your maximum number of dolls to 3. Furthermore, now blood from sources other than yourself has increased potency; when taking the blood of a slain Humanoid or Celestial, you gain up to the creature’s maximum hit points. Any other creature’s blood gives you up to half their maximum hit points.

Your mastery also gives you increased control of your dolls; the range your dolls can operate at is now doubled, and their fly speed increases by 10 ft.
