A propulsioneer makes use of a propulsion device like a jetpack or a hoverboard to improve their mobility on the battlefield.

Tool Proficiency

3rd-level Propulsioneer feature

You gain proficiency with smith's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

Propulsioneer Spells

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Propulsioneer Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Propulsion Device

3rd-level Propulsioneer feature

You've learned how to create a propulsion device. Using tinker's tools or smith’s tools, you can spend one hour to create a magical propulsion device. It is a medium object.
Once you create a propulsion device, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest or until you expend a spell slot to create one. You can have only one device at a time. The device is part of your equipment, it can only be used by you, and it can not be targeted by attacks.

When you create the device you can determine it's appearance. It could be a jetpack, hoverboard, or another device of your choosing.

You can use an action to activate your propulsion device. It then stays activated for 10 minutes. When activated your device can lift you up to a maximum of 5 ft above the ground. When moving with your device you get a bonus of 10 ft to your movement speed. Despite hovering in the air, you still use your regular move speed.

While you are being carried by your device you can use a bonus action to activate one of the folowing functions:

  • Bob and weave: You gain the benefits of the dodge action.
  • Rocket boosters: You gain the benefits of the disengage action. Also your divices maximum height changes to 5 times your proficiency bonus until the end of your turn.
  • Swooping impact: You can swoop down at an enemy within 5 ft. The target must succeed a dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or fall prone.
