Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Other than teaching mathematics and philosophy, the Academy of Mytros teaches astronomy and its variety of uses. Some use the stars to divine the future, much like an oracle uses vapors or a shaman throws bones. Others simply serve as navigators while the remainder focus on light and radiant magic.

Nyx Savant

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a spell into your spellbook is halved at night.

Additionally, you gain proficiency with navigator's tools and you have advantage on checks made with navigator's tools made at night.

Arcane Stars

Also at 2nd level, you can create smaller, mock stars. As an action, you can create a number of stars up to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1). Each star must be within 120 feet of you. A star occupies a 5-foot square and emits bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet.

When a creature enters or starts its turn in the bright light of a star, you can use your reaction to deal radiant damage to that creature equal to your wizard level + your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1).

As a bonus action on subsequent turns, you can move a star up to 30 feet. A star disappears if it is more than 120 feet away from you.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Astral Phenomena

Starting at 6th level, you have learned to notice, identify, and record objects and occurences in the night sky. When you finish a long rest, choose one of the following phenomena that you observed during that long rest. The associated spell with that phenomenon is prepared for you, does not count against the total number of spells you can prepare each day, and is treated as a wizard spell for you. You can change your choice when you finish a long rest.

Additionally, each spell has an added effect when cast on your arcane stars, detailed in the table below. You can only cast the spell on the Arcane Stars once per short or long rest. If a spell requires concentration and the concentration is dropped, the stars revert to their normal properties unless otherwise stated.

Starting at 10th level, you can choose two phenomena, instead of one when you finish a long rest.

Note: Choose which effect you observe from the dropdown list at the end of a long rest, and change it upon completing another long rest to change to your next observation so it updates the sheet with the correct spell and ability.

Phenomenon Spell Arcane Stars Effect
Comet guiding bolt You can fire the guiding bolt at one of your Arcane Stars and then make the ranged spell attack as if you were from the space that the star is in, potentially extending range or ignoring cover.
Meteor Melf's minute meteors When you expend one or more of the meteors, you can send them streaking towards an Arcane Star, forcing each creature within the star's bright light to make the saving throw against the meteor, instead of just in a 5-foot radius. The star explodes with this and disappears.
Moon moonbeam The light from your Arcane Stars change to mimic moonlight as the bright light of the stars gains the same effects of the moonbeam spell. While under this effect, you cannot use your reaction to deal radiant damage as per the Arcane Stars feature.
Nebula fog cloud The bright and dim light of the Arcane Stars is replaced with the effect of the fog cloud spell. If the fog cloud spell was cast at a higher level, each star emits the new radius the spell would create. If the fog would be dispersed by wind, the Arcane Stars do not reform.
Solar System daylight Each of your Arcane Stars gains the properties of the daylight spell, and thus increases the area within which you can deal radiant damage to creatures.
Wormhole misty step Instead of teleporting 30 feet, you can instead switch places with one Arcane Star that you can see.
Black Hole

You learn the reverse gravity spell. Instead of affecting a 50-foot radius, 100-foot-high cylinder, you can have the spell affect the bright and dim light of each of your Arcane Stars.

Comet

You learn the guiding bolt spell. You can fire the guiding bolt at one of your Arcane Stars and then make the ranged spell attack as if you were from the space that the star is in, potentially extending range or ignoring cover.

Constellation

You learn the chain lightning spell. You can shoot the chain lightning at one of your Arcane Stars, then up to three bolts leap from the star. At most two of them can target another creature or object within 30 feet of the star. The third must target another Arcane Star within 30 feet of the previous. This process repeats until there are no new targets within range or there are no more Arcane Stars within range.

Meteor

You learn the melf's minute meteors spell. When you expend one or more of the meteors, you can send them streaking towards an Arcane Star, forcing each creature within the star's bright light to make the saving throw against the meteor, instead of just in a 5-foot radius. The star explodes with this and disappears.

Moon

You learn the moonbeam spell. The light from your Arcane Stars change to mimic moonlight as the bright light of the stars gains the same effects of the moonbeam spell. While under this effect, you cannot use your reaction to deal radiant damage as per the Arcane Stars feature.

Nebula

You learn the fog cloud spell. The bright and dim light of the Arcane Stars is replaced with the effect of the fog cloud spell. If the fog cloud spell was cast at a higher level, each star emits the new radius the spell would create. If the fog would be dispersed by wind, the Arcane Stars do not reform.

Solar Flare

You learn the flame strike spell. The spell instead affects the bright light of your Arcane Stars instead of the normal, singular, 10-foot-radius, 40-foot-high cylinder.

Solar System

You learn the daylight spell. Each of your Arcane Stars gains the properties of the daylight spell, and thus increases the area within which you can deal radiant damage to creatures.

Supernova

You learn the sickening radiance spell. The spell affects the bright light of your Arcane Stars. While under this effect, you cannot use your reaction to deal radiant damage as per the Arcane Stars feature.

Ensure you select the Sickening Radiance spell from the dropdown list. Due to DnDBeyond publishing requirements this cannot be automatically set.

Wormhole

You learn the misty step spell. Instead of teleporting 30 feet, you can instead switch places with one Arcane Star that you can see.

Astronomical Proportions

Starting at 10th level, you can modify your spells to account for the vast emptiness that is space. When you cast a spell, you can expend a spell slot of 2nd-level or higher to double the area that the spell affects or to double the range of the spell. A spell with the range of Touch gains a range of 10 feet.

Cosmic Phenomena

At 14th level, you peer deeper in to the night sky and can witness phenomena that other astronomers have yet to notice. You gain access to the following phenomena and spells to choose from in addition to those from your Astral Phenomena feature.

These new level 14 options are now available in the Astral Phenomena feature.
