Base Class: Blood Hunter
The Order of the Tidebreaker was a neglected order even by the standards of the founding Blood Hunters and was overlooked when it was first idealized. Many of the members that partook in the order exhausted their hemocraft magic constantly to try and conquer the ferocious tides of the oceans; of which few managed to wield such an uncontrollable power. The order became forgotten quickly, for its sporadic and oftentimes unstable arcana yielded inconsistent results among those seeking true power in the ways of the Blood Hunter. However, those that were to remain and flee with the knowledge of the oceans researched the untapped potential within the sea; unlocking the secrets of the currents and life below to eventually wield rivaled strength comparable to that of the water idols themselves. Blood Hunters of the Tidebreaker Order remained vigilant in their studies across continents, below the sea, and within other dimensions traveled to reform themselves a hidden yet formidable foe against monsters of evil. Only the few and trusted fully grasp the weight of the order, and far fewer have acquired the ultimate gift of the ocean. In their secrecy they laid the breeding grounds of what was to become an unstoppable force and benevolent power in pioneering the water's untapped potential to aid their allies.
Rite of the Fathoms
When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn a unique rite; the Rite of the Fathoms, as a part of your Crimson Rite feature. When you activate the Rite of the Fathoms, the extra damage dealt by your rite is force damage in the form of water. Additionally, while that rite is active on your weapon, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain a swimming speed of 40 feet and can breathe underwater.
- You have resistance to force and thunder damage.
- When you move across a liquid or slippery surface, you do not become impeded by difficult terrain and any Dexterity checks made to remain standing are made with advantage.
Blood for Blood
Starting at 3rd level, you learn to master your Crimson Rite and wield it to benefit your allies. You gain an additional use of your Blood Maledict feature. In addition, when you take damage from your Crimson Rite feature, you may expend a use of your Blood Maledict feature as an Action to heal up to 3d6 hit points to an ally within 5 feet of you. This property lasts for as long as your Crimson Rite is in use and ends when you have expended all of your Blood Maledicts.
Hemocraft Modifier: Intelligence
Your chosen Hemocraft modifier is Intelligence.
Hemocraft Modifier: Wisdom
Your chosen Hemocraft modifier is Wisdom.
Oceanic Armament
Upon reaching 7th level, at the start of your turn, you can invoke the powers of the oceans to create a wall of water that protects a singular direction around your person as long as you aren't incapacitated. The barrier of water moves in tandem and you can affect creatures and objects past the wall as if it were unimposing. This wall makes melee attacks targeted at you at disadvantage and projectiles harmlessly bounce off to fall towards the ground.
This feature lasts for a number of rounds equal to your Hemocraft modifier (minimum of 1 round). After the barrier of water ends, any projectiles targeted at you drop to the floor and are able to be reacquired.
Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. You can use Oceanic Armament twice between rests starting at 15th level.
Brand of Benevolence
Starting at 11th level, your Brand of Castigation preys on their incomprehension of the dark tides, leaving them vulnerable to your Crimson Rite feature. Whenever you hit a creature with a weapon for which you have an active crimson rite, you roll an additional hemocraft die when determining the extra damage from the rite. Additionally, while the branded creature is affected, any damage dealt with a melee or ranged weapon attack by you is transferred back in the form of additional hit points.
Captain of the Depths
Starting at 15th level, you command the tides to rule in your favor and bolster the resolve of your teammates. As an action, you can imbue yourself and your allies with the strength of the untamed seas. Amid a swirl of tidal waves, you heal up to 5 creatures including yourself for 5d8 hit points or apply a +2 bonus to Armor Class for 1 minute.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Rite of Sacrificial Defense
Upon reaching 18th level, you learn to channel the spirits of the sea that perished to the depths and briefly wield their boons to assist your allies in peril. If you have one or more crimson rites active and you are reduced to 0 hit points but don’t die outright, you can choose to have all your active crimson rites end and unleash a current of waves that surrounds your neighboring allies. Any allies within 30 feet of you when you fall to 0 hit points receive 8d8 hit points and can choose to have one active condition removed.
