Blood Hunter
Base Class: Blood Hunter

Note: For how similar it may look to the existing and more known HB subclass made by the user Davavor, this is a concept I had in mind far before discovering its existence, but being a responsible person I step back in front of its work and I present mine as a similar while different option for your character or campaign. Hope you will enjoy and please leave a comment to help me improve it.

Founded during the golden age of the Yuan-Ti Empire, this order had the primary purpose of destroying the enemies of the Empire by any means, using specifically the dangerous hemocraft magic. After the fall of the Empire, the Order changed deeply, but survived, changing its objectives to those of any other Blood Hunter Order: defeat evils old and new, fighting monsters with monsters. They combine the hemocraft magic and the serpentine magic into a powerful, deadly and secretive power never seen before.

Charisma Channeling

When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn how to channel your social skills and your powerful personality into the very blood you use for your class abilities in a similar way to other casters, being able to change your Hemocraft modifier to Charisma instead of Intelligence or Wisdom. Also, anytime you gain a level you can choose to change it again choosing between Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma, being highly versatile in any change you do.

Rite of the Fang

When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the Rite of the Fang as part of your Crimson Rite feature. When you activate the Rite of the Fang, the extra damage dealt by your rite is poison damage. Additionally, while that rite is active on your weapon, you gain the following benefits:

  • Whenever you hit an enemy, it must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save it becomes poisoned until the end of your next turn.
  • If you hit an enemy that is already poisoned or immune to the poisoned condition, you roll an additional hemocraft die to determine the extra damage from the rite.

Serpentine Spellcasting

At 3rd level, you learn the Poison Spray Cantrip. If you already know it you learn another cantrip of your choice. You can either use your Hemocraft or Charisma modifier as spellcasting modifier for this cantrip.

If you get the Extra Attack feature, when you take the attack action, you can cast a cantrip in place of one of your attacks.

If you aren't a Yuan-Ti, you become able to cast Animal Friendship at will, but can target only snakes with it. If you are a Yuan-Ti, you become able to cast Speak with Animals at will, but can target only snakes with it. You can either use your Hemocraft or Charisma modifier as spellcasting modifier for this spell.

Superior Poison

Starting at 7th level, whenever you cause an effect that deals poison damage to a creature that is immune to poison, you can halve that damage and deal acid or necrotic damage instead.

Also, each time you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for which you deal poison damage, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll

Brand of Venom

Upon reaching 11th level, your Brand of Castigation bears a powerful poisonous magic. The branded creature is poisoned, and every time it takes damage it also takes extra poison damage equal to your Hemocraft modifier (minimum of 1).

Blood Curse of Corrosion

Starting at 15th level, your blood curse can infuse a creature's body with terrible toxins. You gain the Blood Curse of Corrosion for your Blood Maledict feature. This doesn't count against your number of blood curses known.

Ultimate Poison

Whenever you cause an effect that deals poison damage, you can choose to deal acid or necrotic damage instead.

Also, if you are under half of your HP maximum, when you deal such damage to a creature, you regain HP equal to a roll of your hemocraft die at the end of your turn.
