Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of Retribution have forsaken the elegant forms and training of other Monastic Traditions in favor of more direct and brutal methods. These monks rarely congregate in secluded monasteries or schools, usually looking for trouble or hunting after a specific target.

Tempered Body

Starting at 3rd level when you choose this tradition you may add your strength modifier to your Unarmored Defense feature instead of your Dexterity modifier. In addition, when you roll a Hit Die to regain hit points you add your Strength modifier to the roll.

Hands of Iron

Starting at 3rd level, you can use your reaction to deflect or catch a melee weapon that you are hit with. When you do so, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + your Strength modifier + your monk level. If you reduce the damage to 0, you may use the opening you created to make a single unarmed attack.

Disabling Strikes

Starting at 6th level, you are an expert in disabling parts of an enemies body. You exploit weaknesses in their body structure and ki to disrupt them. When hitting a creature with an attack granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can impose one of the following effects on that target:

  • Tendon Rupture: The creatures speed is halved until the end of its next turn.
  • Disarming Swipe: The creature drops one item they are holding.
  • Organ Strike: The creature takes an additional martial arts dice of damage.

Intimidating Brutality

Starting at 11th level, your brutality intimidates those around you into telling you what you need to know. You gain proficiency in Intimidation. You may spend 1 ki point to force a creature to make a Charisma Saving Throw against your ki save DC. On a fail, they cannot tell a deliberate lie for 1 minute.

In addition, whenever a creature is within 10ft of you for the first time in combat, they must make a Charisma Saving Throw against your ki save DC. On a failed save they must subtract 1d4 from attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 minute.

Relentless Retribution

At 17th level, you fuel your body with large amounts of ki to deliver multiple blindingly fast attacks. Whenever you use Flurry of Blows, you may spend up to 5 ki points to make an additional unarmed strike per point of ki points as bonus action. Any critical hits refund the cost of the ki point used.
