Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Universe strive to achieve a level of connection to the world around them, becoming one with the universe itself. Their training results in attunement to the world, and a peek at the inner flow of the universe and everything in it. This knowledge of the universal workings allows them some level of control over it, and over themselves. Some monasteries train their pupils to further their own connection to the gods, while others train to become fearsome weapons wielding the world itself.

Glimpse the Flow

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you get your first glimpse into how all living things are connected. You gain proficiency in the medicine skill if you don't already have it.

Additionally, as a bonus action you can open your senses to the connection of all life, learning the location and creature type of every living creature within 60 feet of you until the start of your next turn. Constructs, elementals, and undead are immune to this detection, as are creatures protected from Divination magic. You must concentrate on this ability as you would a spell. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

The duration of this ability increases to 1 minute at 6th level, 10 minutes at 11th level, and 1 hour at 17th level.

Earthly Transformations

At 6th level, your understanding of the flow of life allows you the ability to change your form to that of another. You can spend 2 ki points to cast alter self, or 4 ki points to cast polymorph, targeting yourself only. While polymorphed using this feature you retain Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores.

Infinity in the Palm

By 11th level, your attunement to the space of the universe allows you to travel through it short distances. When you make an unarmed strike on your turn, you can do so from 30 feet away from your target, so long as you can see them or otherwise sense them, such as with your Glimpse the Flow feature.

Additionally, as a bonus action, you can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 2 ki points to use this feature again.

Eternity in a Second

At 17th level, you have become so attuned to the universe that time is but a mere suggestion to you. You can no longer die of old age.

Additionally, when you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 2 ki points to alter the flow of time around them. The target must succeed a Charisma saving throw against your ki save DC or suffer one of the following effects:

  • The flow of time halts. The target is paralyzed until the start of your next turn.
  • The flow of time speeds up. The creature experiences a day in less than a second, gaining a level of exhaustion
  • The target is temporarily removed from the flow of time. The target disappears, during which time it is immune to all damage, all conditions it is affected by are suppressed, and it cannot be targeted. It reappears at the start of your next turn in the space from which it initially disappeared from. If said space is no longer available, the target is moved to the nearest unoccupied space and takes 2d10 force damage. If it was blocked from its initial space by a creature, that creature also takes this damage.
