Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Long Death are obsessed with the meaning and mechanics of dying. They capture creatures and prepare elaborate experiments to capture, record, and understand the moments of their demise. They then use this knowledge to guide their understanding of martial arts, yielding a deadly fighting style.
Death’s Resilience
Starting at 3rd level, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class.
Hour of Reaping
At 6th level, you gain the ability to unsettle or terrify those around you, for your soul has been touched by the shadow of death. As a bonus action, you can force each creature within 30 feet of you that can see or hear you to make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
When you activate this feature, you may spend 1 to 3 ki points to increase its range by 30 feet per ki point spent, up to 120 feet.
Mastery of Death
At 11th level, you use your familiarity with death to escape its grasp. Whenever you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can spend 1 ki point as a free action to have 1 hit point instead.
Touch of the Long Death
At 17th level, your touch can channel the energy of death into a creature. As an action when a creature is within 5 feet of you, or whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 to 10 ki points.
When done as an action, the target must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 4d10 necrotic damage per ki point spent on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
When done as part of a successful unarmed strike, the target immediately takes 3d10 necrotic damage per ki point spent in addition to the unarmed strike’s damage.
