Monk
Base Class: Monk

The calligraphy art of Shuji is a widely known but seldom practiced art. Those monks that hail from a Shuji monastery learn to perfect the art form while simultaneously honing their bodies and minds. Monks who master this tradition seek tales and knowledge from other cultures and their own and record them diligently on scrolls that are kept both in their monastery and on their person. Along with recorded histories, these monks also seek knowledge in the ways of magic and gain the unique ability to not only cast spells, but transcribe them onto scrolls to be used by others. These monks seek to enlighten themselves by in turn enlightening the world.

Spellcasting

Gain the ability to cast spells from the Wizard spell list

Scroll of Knowledge

In order to master your discipline, you strive to transcribe the knowledge you've collected and spread that knowledge by creating scrolls of knowledge. Spend a ki point to transcribe a prepared spell onto a scroll and give the scroll to a party member. These scrolls can be used by the party member as a bonus action in and out of battle. Each scroll takes 10 minutes to create. Transcribing these scrolls does not use a spell slot but will use ki points equal to half the spell level transcribed. This ability recharges when ki points are restored.

Fude Staff

As a symbol of your order your staff is giant Fude brush which is the main tool for your Shuji discipline. As a bonus action, before your attack, you can choose to dip the brush end of your staff in ink. Upon a successful hit the brush end of your staff causes the target to be blinded by ink. The affected target then must spend an action on it's next turn clearing the ink out of it's eyes to end the blinded condition. This ability is usable a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and recharges on a short rest. Enemies that cannot be affected by blindness are not affected.

Haiku

One of the arts of the Shuji monastery is the art or recording and reciting powerful poetry. Beginning at 6th level, use an action to recite an inspiring Haiku. The Haiku will affect any friendly creature within 30 feet that can hear it. The haiku can grant advantage to rolls on attacks, checks, or saves and will last until the beginning of your next turn. The effect of the haiku must be chosen when the haiku is recited. This feature can be used at will.

Word of Mouth

The knowledge and eloquence imparted from your arts has become so profound that creatures can be affected just by hearing their words. Beginning at level 11, whenever a creature in possession of one of your scrolls uses the scroll the effect of the scroll can be extended to one additional friendly creature within 10 feet provided the spell can provide a positive a beneficial effect (buff).

Virtuoso

You have mastered the Shuji art and can create works of art as a second nature. Beginning at 17th your ability to craft scrolls is no longer restricted by or tied to your ki points. Additionally, your mastery of the knowledge you have collected in your travels allows you to change your prepared spells on a short rest.
