Expanded Spell List
Your patron may be any type of patron, such as a fiend, celestial, archfey, or genie. You gain the expanded spell list feature of one other subclass.
Accidental overflow
When you do any magic, roll a d20. On a 1, roll on the Sorcerer wild magic surge table. When you succeed, the number is raised. A lower number also triggers the effects. After a surge, the difficulty is reset to one. For example, if you succeeded on the last three checks, you surge on a 1, 2, 3, or 4.
Malfunctioning spells
The above.
when the spell malfunctions, roll a d6. On a one or two, the replacement spell is one level lower than the spell you cast. On a three, four, or five, it is the same level as the spell you intended to cast. Regardless, you utilize one spell slot and the spell is cast at a similar level. For example, if your slots are fifth level and you cast a third level spell which is downgraded to a second level spell, you cast it as if it were a fourth level spell slot. If it were upgraded, it would be cast as if a sixth level spell slot were used. The slots cannot rise above ninth level. Count the number of spells of the relevant level. Generate a random number between one and that number. Count down that many alphabetically. That is the spell that is cast(I.e. 1 is the first spell alphabetically, 4 is the fourth alphabetically, etc).
variant rule: if the spell level is up or downgraded, continue to roll a d6 until it is a three, four, or five, keeping track of the spell’s final level. This could result in a ninth level spell becoming a first level spell, or vice versa, or anything in between.
Beginner’s Luck
Once per long rest, you may either:
- add or subtract a d4 from one roll made. This does not take a reaction
- choose one attack after knowing if it hit. You may re-roll any ones or twos on the damage dice. If the new rolls are ones or twos, you may continue to roll them until they are above two.
beginning at 14th level, you may use this feature twice between long rests.
Graduation
if you chose to gain the spell list from the Great Old One, then at this point they have gained enough experience to become a fully-fledged patron. You may decide whether or not to retain the previous traits from this subclass.
