On the surface many may confuse a Chi Master with other monastic traditions of various cultures. While there is some overlap to fighting style and abilities, their philosophies and outlooks could not be any dissimilar.

Where other students seek harmony, Chi masters seek growth. Where other traditions teach balance, Chi masters tip the scales. Where other masters see beauty, Chi masters see strength.

A Chi Masters life is full of danger and new challenges around every corner. They constantly seek new ways to test themselves in increasingly more dangerous scenarios. The secret to strength is change: why would a person keep themselves in one place and practice the same fighting style every day when you can go out into the world and learn a dozen new ways to fight?

Courage, vigor, and being in one’s true mind are the secrets to Chi Mastery and the martial arts that they practice. Trial by fire may seem intimidating until you realize that fire and pressure can create steel.

This doesn’t mean that a Chi Master is unwilling to listen to reason. A Chi Master is an excellent companion to any party as they bring a wide away of unique skills. Though wizards may be smarter, rogues may be more skilled, and bards may be more sociable, the Chi Master is always willing to learn from those with more experience.

Chi Blast

3rd-level Way of the Chi Master feature

When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can and replace one of the attacks with a ball of chi fired from your palms.

Chose one creature that you can see within 30 feet and make a ranged attack roll. If you hit the target takes force damage equal to one roll of your martial arts die plus your dexterity modifier and is knocked prone.

At 11th level, the damage of this feature increases to two rolls of your Martial Arts die.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest. While you have no uses available, you can spend 2 ki points to use this feature again.

Sudden Release of Long Stored Chi

6th-level Way of the Chi Master feature

You harness an explosive power from deep within you. As a bonus action you can spend 2 ki points to release your chi, transforming into a more powerful form for 10 minutes. While transformed you gain following benefits:

• Your strength score becomes 15 if it is not already higher.
• Your unarmed strikes are infused with chi and inflict force damage instead of bludgeoning damage.
• When using step of the wind your base walking speed is increased by 10 feet and your jump distance is tripled rather than doubled for the turn.

All transformations end early if you are incapacitated or die.

Your transformation can take on any appearance you choose: a glowing aura, spiky blond hair and green eyes, or full anatomic alterations. These are purely cosmetic and do not give any mechanical benefits beyond those listed above.

Awakened Power

11th-level Way of the Chi Master feature

When you transform by releasing your chi you can spend 1 additional ki point (3 total) to awaken more of your power. While you are transformed in this way you gain the following benefits:

Awakened Strength. Your strength score becomes 17 if it is not already higher, and you have advantage on strength checks and strength saving throws.

Empowered Strikes. Once on each of your turns when you hit a target with your flurry of blows, you can deal extra damage to the target equal to your Martial Arts die.

Chi Wave

11th-level Way of the Chi Master feature

When under the effect of awakened power you can channel destructive waves of energy. As an action you can expend two uses of your chi blast feature and release a line of energy 60 feet long and 5 feet wide.

Each creature within that area must make a dexterity saving throw against your ki save DC, taking force damage equal to 5 rolls of your martial arts die on a failed save, or half as much if they succeed.

When you have no uses of chi blast available you can spend 4 ki points to use this feature again.

Ascended Transformation

17th-level Way of the Chi Master feature

Your mastery of chi is complete, allowing you to unleash your full potential. As a bonus action, you can spend 5 ki points to assume an ascended transformation. You gain both the benefits of releasing your chi and awakened power for 10 minutes.

Additionally while you are transformed in this way, you gain the following benefits:

Ascended Spirit. You gain a strength score of 20 if it is not already higher and a +2 bonus to your armor class.

Surging Strikes. Your damage from empowered strikes increases to two rolls of your martial arts die.

The Art of Sky Dancing. You have learned the secret technique of flying. As a bonus action, or as part of the bonus action you take to activate your ascended transformation you can spend 2 ki points and cast fly, targeting yourself.
