Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Of all the deities that are venerated within the Shadowfell, few invoke the feeling of fear and mystery like the Raven Queen. Scholars and mages speak her name in hushed tones, afraid of what may come if they speak a little too loudly. Despite her unknowable and harrowing nature, many choose to conjure her power, forming a pact that is the soul bond for many of the Hexblades that are scattered throughout the realms. Even still, some dig further into the Winter Mother, vowing to serve her in this life and every life thereafter.

The Oath of Blades and Feathers binds you into the servitude of the Raven Queen. Even while bearing the paladin title, your way of life and ideals are set apart from typical warrior-priests of other deities. The Raven Queen values chaos, power, self-actualization, and strength. Her servants reflect those values, and the powers that the Raven Queen grants them even more so leans into this ideology. Deepening one's Oath to the Queen of Ravens builds personal strength for the purpose of servitude to the Matron Goddess of the Shadowfell.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Blade and Feathers Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Oath of Blade and Feathers Spells

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Commander of Ravenkind. You can use your Channel Divinity to reach out to ravens in your midst. 1d4 swarms of ravens per paladin level come to your aid in combat. All swarms of ravens follow your command and act on your turn.

Fount of Memories. You can use your Channel Divinity to reach into the mind and recall memories. A creature you can see must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, you can tap into the memories of the creature and seek any information or experience they've had with ease. The Fount of Memories ability fails if the target's Wisdom score is 6 or lower.

Aura of Painful Memories

Starting at 7th level, you can manipulate the memories of others to deal damage at the cost of your own health. When a creature within 10 feet of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to magically deal half as much psychic damage to both yourself and one other target within range.

Additionally, when you deal psychic damage to a creature within 10 feet of you, you can expend 1 use of your Channel Divinity to deal maximum damage but take half of that damage. This feature doesn’t transfer any other effects that might accompany the damage, and this damage can’t be reduced in any way.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Dominion Over Death

Starting at 15th level, fighting for the Raven Queen grants you sway while petitioning the forces of life and death. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can expend 1 use of your Channel Divinity (no action required) to have hit points equal to your levels in the paladin class instead. This feature can be used to resist instant kill effects such as [Tooltip Not Found].

The Fear of Winter

At 20th level, you temporarily bear the mantle of the Raven Queen, shattering your own identity. As an action, you can transform into a shadow wearing a large cloak of black feathers, peering through an expressionless porcelain mask. While transformed, you gain the following benefits:

  • You have resistance to all damage dealt by other creatures (their attacks, spells, and other effects).
  • You gain a flying speed of 45 feet. If you already have a flying speed, it increases by 45 feet.
  • When a creature walks into your aura or ends their turn there, they must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, they take 4d10 cold damage.
  • Whenever you cast a paladin spell that has a casting time of 1 action, you can cast it using a bonus action instead.

This transformation lasts for 1 minute, or until you dismiss it (no action required). Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you take a long rest.
