Base Class: Artificer
Some people delight in destruction and havoc. An explosionist artificer is one of those people. Explosionists have always had a talent for destruction and creating things that go boom. They have distinct skills in making explosives and bombs. They are masters of all that blows up, and not only have skills in creating bombs, but defusing them as well
Bomb Creation
At 3rd level, when you choose this subclass, you can create an explosive. You can roll a d20 and add your dexterity modifier and proficiency bonus. A roll above a 12 succeeds. A roll below a 12 fails. A roll below a 6 fails and creates a Fireball centered around the attempted explosive.
Defuse
At 6th level, you are so proficient with bombs and explosions that you can effectively stop them. Using a reaction, when a bomb is about to explode, you can roll a d20 to defuse it, adding your proficiency bonus and dexterity modifier. A roll above a 10 halves the damage, and a roll below that does nothing.
Automaton
At 10th level, using your technological knowledge, you can create a Small automaton and send it into battle. After a specific amount of time which you decide (from 1 round to 3 hours), the automaton will explode, with the effect of a Fireball spell. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier.
Explosivity
At 18th level, you have been around explosions for so long that you are pretty used to them. You gain the following abilities:
- You are resistant to fire damage, and take ¼th of the damage from explosions or the Fireball spell.
- You can, three times per long rest, cast Fireball at 6th level without expending a spell slot.
- You can create your automaton four times a day instead of two.
- You can create twenty sticks of dynamite per day.
- You can cast Glyph of Warding, Fireball, or Delayed Blast Fireball with only half the casting time.
- You can ignite dynamite twice as fast.
