Base Class: Warlock
Patrons to most warlocks would strike a deal which proves to be beneficial to both parties, often offering power in exchange for servitude. Occasionally, however, a particularly sadistic patron might imbue someone with their power simply to revel in their misfortune. The type of being matters little, only the intent behind the arrangement: Perhaps a succubus who feeds off of negative energy from the warlock's pain, a spirit exacting revenge upon its killer, or a bored god who simply wishes to watch as unfortunate events unfold. Whatever the sadist's motivation, it watches its captive closely, openly mocking them by rewarding them during their most distressing moments.

‘Tis But A Trifle
DM Note:
If your players are frequently making ability checks or attack rolls to gain extra trifles, you can determine that a particular failure was not embarrassing or disastrous enough for their patron to grant them one. Use this sparingly and as a last resort for players who specifically aim to “farm” for trifles by intentionally failing rolls.
After witnessing your failure, laughter can momentarily be heard as your patron feeds off of your embarrassment or pain, and in return, a small token materializes on your person.
Starting at 1st level, whenever you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw and fail the roll by rolling a 1 on the d20, your patron grants you 1 trifle. If you roll a 1 on the d20 and still succeed on that roll, you do not gain a trifle.
You can carry a maximum number of trifles equal to your proficiency bonus at any one time. After gaining a trifle, on any subsequent attack roll, ability check, or saving throw: Before you roll, you can expend 1 trifle to succeed on an ability check, or 2 trifles to automatically hit on an attack roll or succeed on a saving throw. If an ability check would have multiple degrees of success, as determined by the DM, consider expending a trifle as reaching the minimum number required to succeed.
If you have any trifles remaining when you begin a long rest, all but one will vanish when you complete that rest.
As long as you still have trifles on your person, your patron endeavours to prolong your suffering. If you are incapacitated, as long as you have at least 1 trifle remaining, you have advantage on death saving throws. While you have 0 hit points, 1 trifle vanishes at the end of each of your turns until you are stabilized, and all will vanish if you die.
Pleasure From Pain
Your patron especially enjoys when you put yourself in a dangerous situation and enshrouds you in a dark veil to entice you to take more risks. Starting at 6th level, you have resistance against all damage taken from opportunity attacks. Additionally, if you take damage from 2 or more opportunity attacks in the same turn, your patron grants you 1 trifle.
When you reach 10th level in this class, the veil surrounding you lashes out at other creatures, creating even more suffering. Any creature that deals damage to you with an opportunity attack must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or take force damage equal to the damage you took.
Petit Mort
At 10th level, your patron can harness your life energy and lash out at nearby creatures when you are near death.
When you fall to 0 hit points, you can cast Eldritch Blast, creating up to a number of beams equal to half your Warlock level (rounded up). You cannot target the same creature with multiple beams when cast this way. After using Petit Mort in this way, you can't use it in the same way again until you finish a short or long rest.
When you die, you can cast Eldritch Blast, creating a total number of beams equal to your Warlock level. If you are brought back to life after using Petit Mort in this way, you can't use it in the same way again for 1d4+7 days after coming back to life.
True Masochist
At 14th level, your patron now grants you 2 trifles whenever you fail a saving throw by rolling a 1 on the d20.
Before you roll for an attack, you now expend only 1 trifle to automatically hit on that attack roll.
When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to expend 3 trifles and redirect the damage to another creature you can see within 60 feet of the original target. After using True Masochist in this way, you can carry 3 fewer trifles than your current maximum until you finish a long rest.
