Base Class: Monk
The Way of the Aura Guardian is a mysterious monk teaching that does not have a well known history. The story of its beginning lost to time, yet monasteries out there are still deeply rooted in the teachings.
Those who follow the path of the Aura Guardian learn to master their control of Ki and learn of it's outer form known as Aura. It allows these monks to manifest their Aura in powerful ways as well as connecting to others and helping control their Aura as well.
"Ki is in all living things, it is our spiritual energy. It's existed forever and has so much untapped potential. It is a beautiful thing, but where their is Ki, their is also Aura. Aura is Ki, your life energy, that radiates off the body. It is often tied to emotions, and while unseen to the natural eye, one who has learned to refine their focus of Ki can see their own Aura and the Aura of others. Ki and Aura is a powerful tool to a monk who can control both." -An excerpt from Master Koga's teachings about Aura.
Beginner Aura Control (Ranged: Aura Sphere)
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to harness your aura into a form of ethereal energy.
You gain a new attack option that you can use with the Attack action. This special attack is a ranged weapon attack with a range of 60/120 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Dexterity or Wisdom modifier to its attack and damage rolls. Its damage is force, and its damage die is a d4. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table.
When you take the Attack action on your turn and use this special attack as part of it, you can spend 1 ki point to make the special attack twice as a bonus action.
When you gain the Extra Attack feature, this special attack can be used for any of the attacks you make as part of the Attack action.
Beginner Aura Control (Melee: Bone Rush)
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to harness your aura into a form of physical energy.
You gain the Shillelagh spell and wisdom is your spellcasting modifier. You do not require the material component to use the spell and when you cast the spell, you summon a quarterstaff formed from your aura.
Aura Connection
At 6th level you can sense and read the auras of others around you, learning how they feel and better connect to it.
You gain the ability to cast Detect Thoughts and Calm Emotions spells, not requiring material components. You may cast each spell once a day requiring no use of Ki. Each casting afterwards requires the use of 1 Ki point. Additionally you gain the message cantrip if you do not already have it. (The DC for your spells is equal to your Ki Saves DC.)
Enhanced Aura Control and Connection
At 11th level, your aura now becomes empowered when receiving damage and your connection to the aura's of others around you has strengthened.
When you receive damage, your next attack with either an Aura Sphere or your Shillelagh quarterstaff now does extra damage to one roll of your martial arts die. This bonus damage can only be activated once per turn.
Your Aura Sphere no longer has disadvantage when in melee range nor if the target is in it's long range.
You now gain the Locate Creature and the See Invisibility spells, not requiring material components. You may cast each spell once a day requiring no use of Ki. Each casting afterwards requires 1 Ki point. Whenever you cast Locate Creature, your range for it is doubled.
Master of Aura
At 17th level, your ability over Aura has reached its peak. You enhance your body with it, letting you break through your physical limits.
As a bonus action you can spend 5 ki points to unleash your aura through your body for 1 minute.
Extreme Speed: When you take the attack action, you may make a third attack. You may only use this third attack if you moved this turn.
Aura Sight: You gain True Sight out to 60 ft.
Justified: If you are reduced to 0 hit points while in this form, you instead bolster your body and are reduced to one hit point. You then gain temporary hit points equal to twice your monk level + your wisdom modifier.
You may only activate the Justified part of Master of Aura once per short rest.
