Monk
Base Class: Monk

Imagine a monestary in an abbey or a cloister, where children are raised by priests to become the fierce protectors of their holy grounds. A Divine Sentinel has a strong connection with the diety they serve, built up by years and years of excruciating exercise and week-long meditation. As a result, the divine energies granted by the diety merge with the monks flow of Ki, empowering it to a point, where even being in the presence of the monk strikes any possible adversary with awe.

Empowered through Ki

Your connection to your diety has become stronger with the growing mastery of your Ki. Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, during a short or long rest, you can meditate for one hour to prepare spells from the Paladin spell list. Those Spells must all be of a level equal to or below your proficiency bonus and their combined level must be equal to your monk level.

To cast the prepared spells, you don't use spell slots. Instead, you have to spend Ki points equal to the spells level +1. When you cast a spell at higher level, you have to spend another Ki point for each level above the spells base level. In addition to that, you cannot cast a spell on a higher level than your proficiency bonus.

Your Ki functions as a spell casting focus for spells you cast with this feature. Your spellcasting ability for the spells cast through this feature is Wisdom, and the spell save DC equals the DC for your Ki features.

Divine Favour

At 6th level, your ki becomes empowered with the radiant energy of your diety, enhancing your body and spirit.

When using the "Dodge" action as part of your patient defense feature, your AC increases by half of your proficiency bonus (rounded up) until the start of your next turn or until you are hit by an attack.

Also, while you are in your Patient Defense and a creature within 10 ft of you that you can see takes damage, you can use your reaction and spend Ki-Points up to your Proficiency Bonus. Roll one martial arts die per Ki-point spent. The creature regains that many hit points. After you use this feature, you lose the benefits of Patient defense until you reenter it.

Radiant Soul

Starting at 11th level, you do no longer spend ki-points to use your Patient Defense feature.

In Addition, while you take the "dodge" action, whenever you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to deal radiant damage equal to your martial arts die + your wisdom modifier to the attacking creature. You can spend ki-points up to your proficiency bonus to increase the damage by one martial arts die for each point spent. If you do so, you lose the benefit of patient defense until you reenter it on your next turn.

Shining Protector

When you reach 17th level, you have become a shining beacon of radiance as a protector. When entering your patient defense, you can spend half of your remaining Ki-points (minimum of 5) to cast spirit guardians as a 7th level spell. While concentrating on the Spell, you cannot take reactions and you can only use your action to dash or disengage. In addition to that, when you have to roll a constitution saving throw to maintain concentration, you can instead choose to spend a ki-point to automatically succeed. The spell ends early if you do not use your patient defense on your turn to maintain it, you choose to end it or if you drop to 0 hit points. Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
