Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

A swarm of iridescent beetles has bonded itself to you and can assist you in battle. Until you die, the swarm remains in your space, crawling on you or flying and skittering around you within your space.

Beetle Illumination

The beetle sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius around you when it's dark, but they can be told to stop glowing.

Beetle Weapon

Once on each of your turns, you can use a bonus action to cause the swarm to assist you in one of the following ways, immediately after you hit a creature with a melee attack:

  • The attack's target must succeed on a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC or be moved by the swarm up to 10 feet in a direction of your choice.
  • You are moved by the swarm 5 feet in a direction of your choice.
  • The attack's target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or be blinded until the end of their next turn.

Beetle Burn

You may use an action to tell your beetles to explode with light. A searing light flashes from each beetle. Each creature in a 25-foot cube originating from you must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 1d6+2 fire damage and is blinded until the end of their next turn. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and is not blinded.

Beetle Armour

Cover yourself in your beetles, burning your attacker with a searing light.

When a creature damages you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to make a Constitution saving throw. On a successful throw, reduce the damage by 4 and then deal 1d6 fire damage to the creature and blind it until the end of its next turn. On a failed throw, increase the damage by 4.

Beetle Missile

A single beetle launches itself at a creature at high speed, dealing 2d4+2 fire damage. If it hits, you may use a bonus action to use this again.

Finishing Blow

You can punch, kick, head-butt, or use a similar forceful blow and deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1 + STR modifier. It is guaranteed to hit if the target is blinded.
