Base Class: Artificer
You are a sentient metal creation of a genius mind.
You only choose this subclass after consulting that with your DM and most likely a Battle Smith player.
Prerequisites:
- Warforged Race
- Battle Smith (creator) or a surogate creator who must be an Artificer.
Steel Guardian
3rd-level Steel Defender feature
You gain proficiency with heavy armor. You also gain +3 bonus to Initiative rolls. Your Intelligence score cannot be lower than your creator's.
You cannot use hit die to regain hitpoints without your creator or another artificer being available. If you are abandoned or your creator dies, you can only make simple repairs to yourself - when you use hit die to regain hitpoints, you only regain half of them rounded up.
Defender Spells
3rd-level Defender feature
You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Defender Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Adaptive Build
3rd-level Defender feature
You are designed to adapt to your surroundings. You can cast alter self on yourself at will without using a spellslot. You can use this feature number of times equal to your Constitution modifer. You regain all expended uses after a long rest. You can also cast the spell using a spell slot if you're out of uses.
Defender Model
3rd-level Defender feature
You have been built for a purpose. You are either an Assistant or Warmonger. Your designed purpose gives you special benefits.
Assistant
You are designed to fulfill a supportive role. You gain following features:
Undying Servitude. When a creature you can see within 15 feet of you takes damage you can use your reaction to equally share the damage between you and the creature.
Defensive Field. As a bonus action, you can gain temporary hit points equal to your level in this class + your Constitution modifier, replacing any temporary hit points you already have. You can use this bonus action a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Field Assistance. When you roll dice to heal a creature you can reroll 1's and 2's amount of times equal to 2 + your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses when you finish a short rest.
Warmonger
You are designed to fulfill an offensive role. You gain following features:
Steel Will. When you are being targeted by a charm spell you can use your reaction to add +3 to your Wisdom Saving Throw after the roll but before knowing the outcome, provided that you can see the caster. You can use this feature amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short rest. This bonus increases to +5 at level 9 and +7 at level 17.
Recharging Strike. As a bonus action, you can make a spell attack against a creature within 20 feet of you. On hit you deal 1d6 psychic damage and regain a single use of your Field Offensive feature. You can use this bonus action a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. The damage increases to 2d6 at level 7 and to 3d6 at level 15.
Field Offensive. When you roll dice to damage a creature with a weapon attack you can reroll 1's and 2's amount of times equal to 2 + your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Extra Attack
5th-level Defender feature
You can attack twice, rather than once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Wondrous Creation
9th-level Defender feature
The maximum number of items you can infuse at once increases by 2, but those extra items must be part of gear used by you.
Also once per long rest you can spend 10 minutes in inactive state to regain one spell slot of your highest possible level.
You also regain 1 use of Defensive Field and Field Assistance / Recharging Strike and Field Offensive.
Your creator must tend to you during this time.
Perfected Construct
15th-level Defender feature
You gain additional benefits based on your model. Also, you know yourself well enough that you don't need your creator or another artificer to regain full amount of hit points using hit die anymore.
Warmonger. When a Huge or smaller creature you can see ends its turn within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to magically force it to make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, you pull the creature up to 25 feet directly to an unoccupied space. If you pull the target to a space within 5 feet of you, you can make two melee weapon attacks against it as part of this reaction. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
Assistant. Any creature that takes damage from your spells glimmers with magical light until the start of your next turn. The glimmering creature sheds dim light in a 5-foot radius, and it has disadvantage on attack rolls against you and all creatures withing 5 feet of you. In addition, the next attack roll against it has advantage.
