Base Class: Ranger
The Drakewarden subclass modified to allow for a dragon to be utilized as the companion. The dragon begins as a wyrmling and develops in strength (not necessarily age) to the level of a young dragon, and eventually an adult dragon.
The stat block used within was referenced from the Amethyst Dragon Wyrmling stat block.
Draconic Gift
3rd-Level Drakewarden Feature
The bond you share with your dragon creates a connection to dragonkind, granting you understanding and empowering your presence. You gain the following benefits:
Thaumaturgy. You learn the thaumaturgy cantrip, which is a ranger spell for you.
Tongue of Dragons. You learn to speak, read, and write Draconic or one other language of your choice.
Dragon Companion
3rd-Level Drakewarden Feature
As an action, you can magically summon the dragon that is bound to you. It appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 30 feet of you.
The dragon is friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. See its game statistics in the accompanying Dragon stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. Whenever you summon the dragon, choose a damage type listed in its Draconic Essence trait. You can determine the cosmetic characteristics of the drake, such as its color, its scale texture, or any visible effect of its Draconic Essence; your choice has no effect on its game statistics.
In combat, the dragon shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the drake can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.
The dragon remains until it is reduced to 0 hit points or until you use this feature to summon the dragon again. Anything the dragon was wearing or carrying is left behind when the dragon perishes.
Once you summon the dragon, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to summon it.

Draconic Essence. When you summon the dragon, choose a damage type related to the chosen dragon. The chosen type determines the dragon's damage immunity and the damage of its Infused Strikes trait. (Should be based on the type of dragon)
Actions
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10+4) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) force damage.
Singularity Breath (Recharge 5–6). The dragon creates a shining bead of gravitational force in its mouth, then releases the energy in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 13 Strength saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 22 (5d8) force damage, and its speed becomes 0 until the start of the dragon’s next turn. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage, and its speed isn’t reduced. (Amethyst Dragon Wyrmling. Swap out with the affiliated damage type for the corresponding dragon if different)
Spellcasting (Psionics).
Answer Summons -Soul Link: The dragon responds to the magical summoning of its companion when not already present within 120 feet. When within 120 feet the dragon uses the relevant movement speed to where it currently is in the environment.
Other spells were removed for balancing reasons. Please see the relevant dragon stat block if spells need to be referenced.
Reactions
Infused Strikes. When another creature within 30 feet of the dragon that it can see hits a target with a weapon attack, the dragon infuses the strike with its essence, causing the target to take an extra 1d6 damage of the type determined by its Draconic Essence.

Partners in Battle
7th-Level Drakewarden Feature
The bond you share with your drake intensifies, protecting you and stoking the drake’s fury. When you summon your dragon, it can carry you while flying at a speed equal to its walking speed (30 feet). At 11th level the speed increases to 60 ft. At 15th level the dragon's wings have become strong and the speed becomes 80 ft.
In addition, while your drake is summoned, you and the dragon gain the following benefits:
Dragon Mount. Reflecting your special bond, you can use the dragon as a mount if your size is Medium or smaller. While you are riding your dragon, it can use 30 feet of its flying speed. At 11th level the speed increases to 60 ft. At 15th level the dragon's wings have become strong and the speed becomes 80 ft.
Magic Fang. The dragon's Bite attack now deals 1d8 damage of the type chosen for the dragons Draconic Essence.
Resistance. You gain resistance to the damage type chosen for the dragon's Draconic Essence.
Breath of the Prime Material
11th-Level Drakewarden Feature
The dragon's base breath weapon's strength increases to 8d8 at 11th level. This damage increases to 10d8 when you reach 15th level in this class. The recharge rate for the prime breath weapon remains the same as in the stat block.
As an action, you can exhale a 30-foot cone of damaging breath or cause your dragon to exhale it. Only once, choose acid, cold, fire, lightning, psychic, force, radiant, necrotic or poison damage (your choice doesn’t have to match your dragon's Draconic Essence). This choice should not be altered in the future, unless the DM is ok with it and there is a reason for this expanded ability. Each creature in the cone must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, taking 8d8 damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. This damage increases to 10d8 when you reach 15th level.
Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher to use it again.
Soul Bond
15th-Level Drakewarden Feature
Your bond to your dragon reaches new threshholds of its power. While it grows in size comparable to that of a Young Dragon, its power continues to escalate beyond its age. While your dragon is summoned, you and the dragon gain the following benefits:
Empowered Crush. The dragon's Bite attack deals 2d8 damage of the type for its Draconic Essence (for a total of 2d8 extra damage). This replaces the previous uprade of 1d8.
Young Dragon. The dragon grows to Large size. When you ride your dragon, it can now move with a flying speed of 80 ft. Swap out the dragons current ability scores, proficincies and avings throws for that of its Young Dragon counterpart. For example:
Young Amethyst Dragon -
STR
21 (+5)
DEX
12 (+1)
CON
21 (+5)
INT
18 (+4)
WIS
15 (+2)
CHA
19 (+4)
Reflexive Resistance. When either you or the dragon takes damage while you’re within 30 feet of each other, you can use your reaction to give yourself or the dragon resistance to that instance of damage. You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
