Base Class: Barbarian
Most Barbarians rely on their primal rage to be effective in combat, this is not the case for all. The Battledancer attunes to the rhythm and flow of combat, waltzing around the battlefield with a serene and deadly grace. Battledancers combat prowess doesn't come from a deep-seated visceral rage, but something even more primal, more primordial; from the songs of the world itself. (The subclass alters the Barbarian to be Dexterity and Constitution based instead of Strength and Constitution based)
The following changes are made to the Barbarian class features.
Rage
- While attuned to a battledance (raging) you gain advantage on Dexterity checks and saving throws
- When you make a melee weapon attack using Dexterity, you gain a bonus to the damage roll that increases as you gain levels as a barbarian, as shown in the Rage Damage column of the Barbarian table
Danger Sense
- When you take this subclass at third level you gain the Evasion feature while attuned to a Battledance and making a Dexterity saving throw against an effect that you can see. Evasion only takes affect if you beat the DC of the saving throw by 5 or critically succeed the saving throw.
Indomitable Skill (Might)
- Beginning at 18th level, if your total for a Dexterity check is less than your Dexterity score, you can use that score in place of the total.
Primordial (Primal) Champion
- At 20th level, you attune to the Ancient Songs of the World. Your Dexterity and Constitution scores increase by 4. Your maximum for those scores is now 24.
Battle Attunement
Starting when you chose this path at 3rd level, instead of raging you attune to the songs of battle. While in this state you gain the benefits of Barbarian's rage in addition to the following benefits based on the song you choose.
- Song of Combat - When attuned to this Song your movement becomes more focused, striking with ferocity. You may make an additional attack with your bonus action, provided you used your action to attack.
- Song of Evasion - When attuned to this Song you move in a way that is harder to track, attacking you becomes more difficult. You may dodge as a bonus action.
You gain a deeper understanding of the songs and gain additional bonuses at Level 6
- Song of Aggression - When attuned to this Song your movement becomes quick and deliberate, your dance doesn't flourish, you become like a tidal wave washing over your enemies. You increase your movement by half your base movement speed, and you may make an additional attack with your bonus action, provided you used your action to attack.
- Song of Protection - When attuned to this Song you move rhythmically in an unpredictable pattern, your dance has many flourishes that make it even harder to hit you as you glide across the battlefield. You may dodge as a bonus action, and opportunity attacks against you have disadvantage.
You gain a deeper understanding of the songs and gain additional bonuses at Level 10
- Song of Slaughter - When attuned to this Song your movement becomes vigorous and unrelenting, you strike with the precision of a needle as you dispatch your many foes. You increase your movement by half your base movement speed, you may make an additional attack with your bonus action, provided you used your action to attack, and you gain advantage on attacks made against creatures without allies within 5 feet.
- Song of Preservation - When attuned to this Song you move too quickly and erratically to follow, you hardly seem to touch the ground as you spin around your enemies, confusing and disorienting them with your skill and grace. You may dodge as a bonus action, opportunity attacks against you have disadvantage and you gain advantage on all saving throws against spells.
You gain a deeper understanding of the songs and gain additional bonuses at Level 14
- Song of Destruction - When attuned to this Song you become a force of unstoppable violence, your dance becomes so precise and swift that your enemies die before they realize they have been struck. You become a one-man army, capable of laying waste to a mass of foes. You increase your movement by half your base movement speed, you may make an additional attack with your bonus action, provided you used your action to attack, you gain advantage on attacks made against creatures without allies within 5 feet, and if you kill a creature with an attack, you may make an additional attack as a free action.
- Song of Salvation - When attuned to this Song you become a blur of pirouettes and flourishes, you dance so nimbly and gracefully that you seem to walk on air. The very elements themselves cannot seem to gain a hold on you. You may dodge as a bonus action, opportunity attacks against you have disadvantage, you gain advantage on all saving throws against spells, and you gain resistance against the first two damage types that hit you this combat that you do not already resist.
Graceful Blade
Beginning at 6th level, any melee weapons that do not have the heavy property are considered finesse weapons for you.
Change Tempo
Beginning at 10th level, you may use your action to change the Song to which you are attuned.
Grand Finale
Starting at 14th level, when you choose to end your Battledance as a bonus action, you gain benefits based on the Song to which you were attuned. This must be done at the beginning of the turn, though the dance will not end until you end your turn.
- Song of Destruction - When choosing to end this dance, all damage you deal that round of combat is doubled.
- Song of Salvation - When choosing to end this dance, you heal half the damage you took since your last turn, until you end your current turn.
