Base Class: Bard
Bard that chose to join the College of the Broadway Baby learn how to be triple threats on stage and on the battlefield. Musicals can take many different forms, and display a large variety of musical genre and dramatic genre, and that goes for choreographies too. Broadway Baby Bards become polyvalent in order to be able to provide exactly what the show and party need.
When you chose this college, you’re given a wondrous sphere that you can hold, or wear to your belt or bag. It can project sounds and music like a live orchestra. It accompanies you when you sing or dance. Want to change the key or tempo? Feel that fermata? Or even try a bit of a mashup? Go for it, it’s live theater baby !
You can use the magical sphere as a Spell Casting focus. The sphere can hold another magical item that acts like a focus, and retained its properties while you’re attune to it. If you unattune to the object, the sphere gives it back.
Ear Trained
At third level, you have advantage on remembering and reproducing something you’ve heard.
Musical Combat
A strong ensemble is a major asset to musicals; and fighting with a team, isn’t it like being in the ensemble? Kinda? At third level, you can use your bonus action to enter the battle to the rhythm of a chosen Musical Theatre standard. The effects last for the duration of the song, until the button, or if you choose to end it earlier (with proper cuts, AND a button). You can use this feature a number of time equals to your proficiency bonus. You recover all uses on a long rest.
« All that jazz » 6’10
- You move sensually through the battlefield. Enemy creatures within 15ft of you have disadvantage against being charmed. Bob Fosse would be proud.
- As a reaction you can use a roll of your bardic inspiration die to distract a foe within 60ft, with your mastery of the Fosse walk. You can subtract the result to your enemy’s attack roll. You can’t use it if the enemy can’t see you.
« Greased Lightning »
- The up-tempo beat and catchy melody enhance your movements. You can add your Charisma modifier to your AC. Why YOU’RE Greased Lightning !
- Allies that have a Bardic Inspiration from you can expend it to dash as a bonus action. Now look at them go, go, go, gogogogogogogogo !
“Anything Goes” 5’48
- It’s tap dancing time ! Let’s get those triple time steps going, though let’s face it, it’s loud. Creatures within 15ft of you are deafened. Thankfully, you learned how to belt out that Reno Sweeney part, and your voice can be perfectly heard.
- If an enemy succeeds on a concentration check, you can use your reaction to flap-flap-shuffle-hop 10ft in its direction, and expend a use of your bardic inspiration to make him reroll.
“The Ballad of Sweeney Todd” 2’57
- Not anyone can handle Sondheim, especially not the gloomy opening of Sweeney Todd. But you can, you practice your art, and you do it so well that the demon barber of Fleet’s Street’s aura comes from you in a 15ft radius. Enemies that enters that area or start their turn there for the first time must make a Wisdom Saving Throw against your Spell DC. On a fail, they are both surprised and scared, the first roll they make on their turn is made with disadvantage.
- Allies that have a Bardic Inspiration from you can use it to deal additional psychic damage equals to the roll + your charisma modifier. That’s the power of dissonance !
“My Shot” 5’33
- Rise up ! When you’re living on your knees, you rise up ! Allies that fall prone within 15ft of you can use their reaction to get back on their feet.
- Do not throw away your shot! If an ally adds one of your Bardic Inspiration die to its attack roll and the roll fails, he can immediately reroll it to have a chance to succeed.
Leading Lady
At sixth level, you are confident enough to perform on your own. It is your moment to shine ! Pick a solo to perform, and go be an inspiring performer. Choose a number of creatures you can see and who can see you within 60 feet of you, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
“Popular”
They’ll be be popular, but not quite as popular as you. The people you chose can add your charisma modifier to their charisma check for an hour.
“I Wanna be loved by you”
Make them your own with your breathy and sultry voice. Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be charmed by you. While charmed in this way, the target idolizes you, it speaks glowingly of you to anyone who speaks to it, and it hinders anyone who opposes you, avoiding violence unless it was already inclined to fight on your behalf. This effect ends on a target after an hour, if it takes any damage, if you attack it, or if it witnesses you attacking or damaging any of its allies. If a target succeeds on its saving throw, the target has no hint that you tried to charm it.
”Bring him home”
Your allies are too young to die. You call protection upon them, and for the next hour, they gain Temporary Hit Points equals to half your bard level rounded up + your Proficiency Bonus. Let them live.
Perfect Duet
Additionally on sixth level, you gain benefits from performing or fighting with another Bard. In socialinteractions, you share a d4 that one of you can use on a charisma check. You have one as long as you’re acting together, but if the two of you need to roll, only one can use the d4 and you have todecide before the roll is made. During combat, you also share a d4 per turn that you can use on attackrolls and saving throw. This doesn’t apply if one of you is deafened or unconscious, or if you are more than 30ft apart.
Mashup Mastery
Not everyone can master the art of mashups, but you can. At level fourteen, you can use your bonus action to have two Musical Standards effect up. If you ever dreamed about tap dancing on Sweeney Todd, you can shamelessly do so, and God, that’s good !
