Base Class: Monk
At a special monastery you grew up or stayed in learning from the master there the way of the Dragon spirit. A powerful but hard to master and control martial art you learned all you could from the master before they passed on. You remember their teachings as they are only passed on via word of mouth to keep them and others safe and as you grow stronger so too does your dragon spirit.
Work with your DM if you wish to choose a specific type of Dragon spirit your character will manifest or work toward manifesting. All the dragons are possible and the choice is purely cosmetic.
Dragon Spirit Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manifest your Ki causing different effects. Whenever you use a key point to fuel your martial arts choose one of the following effects:
- Gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your Monk Level.
- Gain AC equal to your proficiency bonus for 1 minute.
- Temporarily gain darkvision up to 120ft that can see through regular and magical darkness for your proficiency bonus in minutes (Ex: a proficiency bonus of +3 would give this effect for 3 minutes).
You cannot benefit from more than one of these effects at a time.
Dragon Spirit Protection
At 6th level, you can manifest your dragon spirit without consuming Ki in perilous situations. A once per long rest you can trigger an effect from your Dragon Spirit Technique without spending Ki points.
Dragon Fear
Beginning at 11th level, you gain the aura befitting a dragon. You gain proficiency in Intimidation if you do not already have it and any creature that can be feared must succeed on wisdom saving throw or be feared when attacking you. If the target succeeds the saving throw they are immune to this effect for 24 hours. The saving throw DC for the spell equals 8 + your Wisdom modifier + your proficiency bonus.
Dragon Form
At 17th level, you gain the ability to completely manifest your dragon spirit into reality granting you a number of features up to the number of Ki points you spend on the manifestation. The manifestation lasts for your monk level multiplied by 3 rounded down minutes. You can cancel the transformation early but recover none of the Ki points spent. (This use of Ki points does not trigger any effects from Dragon Spirit Techniques)
- 1+ Dragon Hide: Increase your base AC to 15.
- 3+ Dragon's Claws: Your unarmed strikes get +10 force damage.
- 5+ Dragons Breath: You get a breath attack with a save DC of 8+ your proficiency modifier + your wisdom and deals force damage but will have the appearance of the breath weapon of whatever dragon you are manifesting throughout your journey (so no swapping around to different dragons suddenly).
- 10+ Dragon's Wings: You get draconic wings with a flight speed equal to your movement speed.
- 20 Spirit Barrier: For the duration you are immune to critical hits.
