Base Class: Bard
Bards adhering to the college of tragedy have undergone a great trauma of some kind in their lives, however they use the pain which they feel as fuel and inspiration to create beauty and entertainment for others. the songs they play are tales of lament and woe, creating a sense of hopelessness and grief within those who hear them.
A Bard of the college of tragedy may play songs about unrequited love, lost friends, heartbreak or anything that truly inspires a feeling of deep sadness and lament, most songs stemming from the bards own experiences however tales of others pain are also able to be performed just as well.
Tragic showmanship
when creating your bard you may choose a unique effect for your songs to take on, while performing a song of any kind your unique feature will activate . A die can be rolled for a random effect when creating your bard or you can choose the effect based around your character or backstory to have the song to the effect you wish. this feature also activates at later levels performing the song of sorrow or a bardic suppression features.
1.) Withering - any non-magical plants within 20ft of you wither and decay over the course of your song.
2.) Weeping - any creatures within 20ft of you while you are playing shed tears uncontrollably, these tears do not impede the creatures sight.
3.) Chilling - the air and atmosphere within 20ft of you becomes unnaturally cold.
4.) Eclipsing - any non-magical flames and lights with 20ft of you begin to dim throughout the song and will eventually flicker out.
5.) ominous - any creatures within 20ft who can understand you feel a sense of impending doom while you play your song.
6.) Gloomy - Any creatures within 20ft who can understand you feel a sense of hopelessness while you play.
Bardic Suppression
You are able to create a sense of great sorrow or guilt within your enemies through your songs or poems. To do so you may use your bonus action on your turn to choose one creature other than yourself within 60 feet of you who can hear and understand you. Once within the next 1 minute, when the creature makes an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw you can use your reaction in order to roll a bardic suppression die and subtract the number rolled from the result.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (a minimum of once). You regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Your Bardic Suppression die changes when you reach certain levels in this class. The die becomes a d8 at 5th level, a d10 at 10th level, and a d12 at 15th level.
Song of Sorrow
You can play a song of deep sorrow in a entrancing melodic tone to distract creatures of your choosing, while playing a song of sorrow, any number of creatures within 20ft of you that can hear you have disadvantage on concentration saving throws until the song ends. you must use your action each turn to keep playing the song. during the song if you take damage you must make concentration saves in order to continue playing it. the song can last up to 10 minutes or is ended early if you choose to stop playing or lose concentration.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
The song of sorrow's range increases when you reach certain levels in this class: to 30ft at 9th level, to 40ft at 13th level, and to 60ft at 17th level.
Unending Lament
Any failure fuels your songs even further. Starting at 6th level after using your Bardic suppression on an enemy, if the enemy succeeds the suppressed action anyway you may choose to have them be still under the effects of Bardic suppression.
Devastating Crescendo
Starting at 14th level When Using your Song Of Sorrow feature you may end the song early using your action to perform a Devastating Crescendo. when performing a Devastating Crescendo you may choose any number of creatures within the song of sorrows range equal to your charisma modifier (to a minimum of 1). For each round of combat in which you have been performing a song of sorrow any creatures maintaining concentration on a spell must make a concentration saving throw or lose concentration on the spell they are concentrating on. If a creature chosen is not currently concentrating on a spell they take 1d10 psychic damage for each round the song of sorrow lasted.
Once you have used this ability you may not use it again until you complete a long rest.
