Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Mages that train with the School of Countering and Copying are trained to be wizards that dispel enemy magic, and throw it right back at them. Mages of this school often specialize in being evocation and counter mages, protecting themselves and their comrades, and showering their enemies with torrents of magic.

Improved Counter

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, when you dispel or absorb a spell, the next damaging spell you cast deals 1d6 per level of the spell dispelled more of the spells damage type.

Copy Skill

Beginning at 2nd level, when you witness a creature use a skill you do not have proficiency in, you may roll an Intelligence check to attempt to copy that proficiency. Copying a proficiency takes an action, and you may only have one proficiency copied at a time, and if you try to copy a proficiency when you already have a copied proficiency, the check fails, no matter the result of the die. You may discard a copied proficiency as a bonus action on your turn. You lose any proficiencies you have after a short rest.

Powerful Counter

Starting at 6th level, your countering spells give you more arcane power when successfully countering a spell. When you cast a spell that counters another spell completely, such as dispel magic and counterspell, and succeed, you may choose to gain a spell slot of the spell countered, as long as it does not go over the number of maximum spells slots you have for that level.

Arcane Copy

Beginning at 10th level, you can add a spell to your known spells without it having to be prepared. When you witness a spell being cast that you do not have known, you may use your reaction to add it to the amount of known spells you have, and it does not count against the amount of prepared spells. You may only copy a number of spells equal to your Intelligence modifier, with a minimum of 1. Any spells that you copy in this way use spell slots and are gone after a short rest.

Throwback

Starting at 14th level, you have three Copy Charges, which can be put into use after you cast dispel magic or counterspell, or any other kind of countering magic.  After successfully disabling a spell, as a reaction you may change one of your Copy Charges into the countered spell. You may cast the spell afterward, consuming the copy charge instead of a spell slot, Intelligence is the spellcasting ability for this spell. You can only cast a countered spell once. To recast the spell with a Copy Charge you have to re-counter that spell. You regain any expended Copy Charges after a short rest.
