Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Those who swear to the Oath of Vindication have all been inexorably wronged at some point in their history, and in their pursuit of justice, they swore this oath to not only obtain justice for themselves, but to protect those who labor under accusations or unfair grievance until their justice can be served, almost like a divinely ordained bailiff or bondsman. Gods of justice tend to favor these Paladins, but sometimes other deities make use of these paladins, especially also gods who cherish freedom for the innocent. Defending the potentially falsely accused seems to be a strength of the Oath of Vindication, and when one of these paladins witnesses an injustice against an innocent, their fury is wrathful and swift, locking down the movement of such sinners with magic to apprehend them for arrest by authorities.

Tenets of the Oath of Vindicator-
Serve the public trust: You believe in the general welfare of a free society, and that justice exists within the divine law to protect those who exploit others. You feel that laws are important, but the innocent shall not suffer even under the yoke of law for crimes they did not commit. You will protect the welfare of society by removing the criminal actors, and protecting all who are entitled to fair process.
Protect the innocent: Innocence in the eyes of the law is sacrosanct, and you firmly believe all are innocent until proven guilty in due process. The innocent make society, and they deserve their freedoms, while those who threaten such freedoms unjustly must be denied.
Right that which is wrong: You cannot idly bear witness to someone falsely accused of a crime, nor can you stand a false accusation levied against you or a crime against you to go unpunished. Likewise, the enforcement of law cannot become oppressive to the peoples who strive in innocence, and also lawlessness is unholy. While you may be willing to restrain yourself and detain criminal lawbreakers, only swift and inexorable justice is tolerated.

Channel Divinity

3rd-level Oath of the Vindicator feature

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Vindictive Strike. When you, a friendly creature, or an innocent bystander is dealt damage by another creature, you may use a reaction and expend a use of this feature to gain Vindictive Strike. If you do, for the next 1 minute, you may expend Vindictive Strike as part of the attack action to gain advantage on all attack rolls against that enemy until the end of turn. Whenever you deal damage to this enemy this turn, its speed is reduced by 10 feet until the end of its next turn. Whenever a friendly creature within 30 feet of you is reduced to 0 hit points by an enemy creature's actions, you gain Vindictive Strike without expending a usage of your Channel Divinity against that enemy creature, as long as you have uses of your Channel Divinity remaining. You may not have more than one instance of Vindictive Strike.

Absolution of Steel. Whenever you are hit with an attack roll while you are wearing armor, you may use a reaction and expend a use of this feature, and if you do you gain resistance to the damage dealt by this attack. Whenever there is an innocent creature or a friendly creature within 5 feet of you, and they are hit with an attack roll, you may expend a use of this feature to become the target of this attack instead, using this feature in this way does not bestow resistance to the damage.

At 18th-level in this class, Whenever you or a creature within 30 feet of you are hit with a melee attack or ranged attack, you may use your reaction to deal the attacking creature damage, and you may deal a number of d4 dice in your choice of radiant or necrotic damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus to that creature.

Vindictive Edge

15th-level Oath of Vindication feature

Whereas your Oath spells have always "walked a line" of using dark power to inflict just ends, this has led you to now assume a mastery of both the power of radiant and necrotic energy and you assault foes with both readily. Whenever you cast a spell that deals either radiant or necrotic damage, you may now cause that spell to deal your choice of radiant or necrotic damage. Additionally, when you use your Divine Smite or Improved Divine Smite feature, you meal deal your choice of radiant or necrotic damage with that feature. Lastly, once each round when you deal either radiant or necrotic damage, you may deal an additional amount of that damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus.

Righteous Absolution

20th-level Oath of Vindication feature

Your capabilities to seek righteous justice for those around you reach a divinely-ordained tier, and you become both suffused with and able to radiate either purifying light or avenging shadow as you need when others around you invoke that damage. You gain resistance to necrotic and radiant damage.

Additionally, whenever another creature of your choice within 30 feet of you deals radiant or necrotic damage, you add 2d8 damage to that total once before the beginning of your next turn.

Lastly, your ability scores cannot be damaged or decreased against your will.
