Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Dancing Dragon are masters of movement and warriors who have learned to harness their Ki to emulate the strength and ferocity of dragons, while keeping the beauty, elegance, and perfection of movement of a performer on stage. They have mastered a unique form of martial arts that combines that power with their martial training, grace and beauty of dance, emphasizing smooth, hypnotic and evasive movements. To a Dancer, the world is a stage, their body an instrument, and any foe their partner in the waltz of the battlefield.

Grace and Beauty

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, the hypnotic flow of your movement clouds the minds of your enemies and guides the flow of your spiritual energy.

While you are wearing no armor and not wielding a Shield, you may choose to have your AC equal 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Charisma modifier. In addition, when calculating your Ki saving throw DC, you can choose to use the following formula:

Ki save DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Charisma modifier

Heavenly Steps

Also at 3rd level, your masterful control of your body grants you the following benefits:

  • Elegant Step. You gain proficiency in the Performance skill if you don't already have it. As a bonus action, you can spend one ki point to add +5 to the next Charisma check you make until the end of your turn.

  • Shifting Step. If a creature moves at least 10 feet before making a melee weapon attack or unarmed strike against you, you may spend 1 ki point and use your reaction to send the creature 10 feet in a direction of your choice. The creature must then pass a Strength saving throw against your Ki saving throw or fall prone.

  • Steady Step. You have advantage on Dexterity saving throws, Strength saving throws, and Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks made to maintain your footing or resist being knocked prone.

Dragon Waltz

At 6th level, you have learned to take control of the ki of an enemy to force them into the choreography of your deadly dance.

Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you may spend 1 ki point to force the creature to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Ki saving throw. If the creature is more than one size larger or smaller than you, it succeeds automatically.

On a failed save, the creature is charmed by you for 1 minute. While charmed in this way, the creature is also grappled and can not use its action to attempt to escape the grapple. As long as the effect lasts, you may use your reaction to redirect any attack or magical effect targeting you to instead target the creature. Additionally, the creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures of your choice. The creature may reattempt the Wisdom saving throw at the beginning of each of its turns and each time it takes damage, ending the effect early on a success. The effect also ends early if you stop grappling the creature at any time.

Beads of Allure

At 6th level, your continued meditation under the Phoenix has infused your prayer necklace with the Phoenix's strength, charging its beads with a crimson glow and radiant warmth. You gain a number of charged Crimson Beads equal to your Monk level that you can use to channel this radiant energy, healing one creature that you touch as a bonus action.

Roll a Martial Arts die for each charge spent, and restore a number of hit points equal to the total. The maximum number of charges you can spend at once equals your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1 die). Your reserve of beads regains all expended charges when you finish a long rest.

Graceful Radiance

At 11th level, your Ki aura becomes deeply attuned to the Phoenix, enabling you to weave shielding flames around your body and granting you the following abilities:

  • Acquiesce Flames:  Whenever you take fire damage, you can use your reaction to absorb the flame's energy into your Ki aura and reduce the fire damage by 1d10 + your Wisdom modifier + your Monk level. If this fire damage was caused by a ranged spell attack and you reduced its damage to 0, you can redirect it as part of the same reaction. Spend 3 Ki to make a ranged spell attack with the redirected spell, using your normal spellcasting abilities with proficiency.

  • Shroud of Flame: Whenever you use *Patient Defense* or *Step of the Wind*, wisps of flame spiral around your body until the beginning of your next turn, shedding bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for and additional 10 feet. If a creature hits you with a melee attack while you are shrouded by flame, you can use your reaction to deal fire damage to it. The fire damage equals 2 + your Wisdom modifier.

Endless Draconic Waltz

At 17th level, you have learned to strengthen yourself with the ki of your dancing partner. Each time a creature fails its Wisdom saving throw against your Battle Waltz, you regain 1 spent ki point. Additionally your get these following benefits:

  • Endless Waltz of Resurrection:  When you die due to failed death saving throws or instant death, you explode in a blazing inferno. Creatures of your choice within 60 feet take 2d8 fire damage and are set ablaze in magical fire. A creature on fire takes 1d8 fire damage at the start of each of its turns until it ends this effect by using its action to make a Ki saving throw to suppress the magical flames. When the firestorm subsides, you are reborn in the young adult form of yourself, and you regain half of your maximum bead charges, hit points, and Ki points. All of your non-magical equipment is destroyed, but you are reborn in a magical set of robes called *Crimson Firebird's Mantle* which allows you to cast the spell *Investiture of Flame* once per day.
This feature can only be used once per year.
