Base Class: Barbarian
This subclass harnesses the power of the elements to bolster their physical prowess and devastate their enemies.
Storm's Fury
Starting at 3rd level, the Storm Herald Barbarian gains the ability to channel the power of the elements into their attacks. Whenever they hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, they can choose to deal an extra 1d6 damage of lightning, thunder, or cold damage (their choice). They can use this feature a number of times equal to their Constitution modifier (minimum of once), and regain all expended uses when they finish a long rest.
Elemental Resistance
Also at 3rd level, the Storm Herald Barbarian gains resistance to a chosen damage type associated with their chosen element. They can choose from lightning, thunder, or cold damage. Additionally, they gain the ability to move through non-magical difficult terrain associated with their chosen element without penalty.
Storm Aura
At 6th level, the Storm Herald Barbarian gains the ability to emanate an aura of elemental power. As a bonus action on their turn, they can activate their Storm Aura, which lasts for 1 minute or until they end it as a bonus action. The Storm Aura has a radius of 10 feet and grants different effects based on the Barbarian's chosen element:
Stormy Resilience
Starting at 10th level, the Storm Herald Barbarian gains resistance to a second chosen damage type associated with their chosen element. They can choose from lightning, thunder, or cold damage (but not the type they chose at 3rd level). Additionally, they gain the ability to ignore the effects of non-magical weather conditions associated with their chosen element (e.g. heavy rain or snow for cold, strong winds for lightning, etc.).
Storm Avatar
At 14th level, the Storm Herald Barbarian gains the ability to transform into a being of elemental fury. As an action, they can assume the form of a Medium-sized elemental creature associated with their chosen element. This transformation lasts for 1 minute or until the Barbarian ends it early as a bonus action. While transformed, the Barbarian gains the following benefits:
- They gain resistance to all damage except force damage.
- They can move through non-magical difficult terrain associated with their chosen element without penalty.
- They can use their action to make a melee spell attack that deals damage of their chosen element type. The damage dice for this attack are equal to the Barbarian's level in this class (e.g. 14d6 lightning damage at 14th level).
- They can use their bonus action to activate their Storm Aura, even if it's already active.
