Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Skalds are living history books, learning and reciting the legends of the past, using great myths to inspire real people. They wander the wilds lands of the north seeking story and song to add to their collection, and share great tales of wisdom and victory to strengthen the resolve of those around them. Ancient history isn't the only thing important to skalds, and they often adventure alongside those with great potential, eager to add new tales to their repertoire.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Skalds at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons.

Tale of Legend

At 3rd level, you learn call on the magic of your legends. As a bonus action on your turn you may expend a Bardic Inspiration die and begin your Tale, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked incapacitated or otherwise cannot speak. You can also end your Tale at any time (no action required).

While reciting your Tale you gain the following benefits:

  • At the beginning of each of your turns, you may have one other creature within 10 feet of you regain a number of hit points equal to your bard level.
  • When you attack with a weapon that you are proficient with, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Hex Warrior

While reciting your Tale of Legend, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls of weapons you are proficient with.

Valorous Deeds

Whenever you give a creature a Bardic inspiration die, that creature can immediately use its reaction to make one weapon attack.

Crescendo of Might

At 14th level, you have mastered your storytelling skills, and know when to end the tale so that another may begin.

You may spend a bonus action to end your Tale of Legend in an empowering blast. When you do, you and each creature you have healed using this instance of your Tale of Legend feature gain a bonus to all attack and damage rolls equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). This bonus lasts until the start of your next turn.
