Base Class: Bard
Bards that follow the College of Fools are the laughing stock of civilization. They thrive in turning a bad situation into a truely fascinating show. These bards don’t measure themselves with musicians or storytellers. They are here to cause mayhem and create divergences. They use their words and wit to change their own fate and the fate of others around them.
Sharpened Words
3rd-level College of Fools feature
When you join the College of Fools at 3rd level, you learn to sharpen your words in the most vital way possible. Whenever you deal damage with Vicious Mockey, you add your charisma modifier to the damage roll.
Stumble to Greatness
3rd-level College of Fools feature
When you use this feature you can immediately move up to half your speed, this movement does not invoke opportunity attacks.
When Stumble is active, you gain the following properties:
- You have disadvantage on Dexterity and Strength saving throws.
- You fall prone at the end of your immediate movement.
- Vicious mockery can target 2 creatures within 30ft of each other and now gives the target disadvantage on its next attack roll or saving throw.
- You gain advantage on acrobatic checks and opportunity attacks against you have disadvantage.
Stumble lasts until the end of your next turn and you can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. All uses reset after a short or long rest.
Contagious Laughter
6th-level College of Fools feature
Whenever a creature is affected by your Hideous Laughter additionally to its normal effect it is charmed by you for one minute or until you or your companions do anything harmful to it. When the condition ends, the creature knows it was charmed by you. You can use this feature on one enemy at a time.
Poetry in Misery
6th-level College of Fools feature
Also at 6th level, your words can twist the power of fate to create triumph from the promise of future despair. When you make an attack roll or a saving throw, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to gain a d8 bonus to the roll, but the next attack roll or saving throw you make takes a d8 penalty. If not used, this penalty disappears when you finish a short or long rest.
The die scales with your Bardic Inspiration. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain all uses after a long rest.
Fools Luck
14th-level College of Fools feature
Upon reaching 14th level, you have learned to master your own failures. You can use your own happy little accidents to change fate of your allies and enemies.
When you make an ability check, attack roll or saving throw you can choose to automatically fail in a comical fashion.
Once you’ve used this feature to purposefully fail, you gain one charge of Fools Luck. You have a number of charges equal to your Charisma modifier.
Any charges of Fools Luck fade at the end of each long rest.
When a creature within 30ft that can hear you makes an attack roll, ability check or saving throw you can use your reaction to expend a charge of Fools Luck and impose advantage or disadvantage (your choice) on the roll.
The ability checks, attack rolls or saving throws to gain charges of Fools Luck have to be meaningful (DM’s discretion).
