Base Class: Fighter

The Blademaster is a fighter who has dedicated their training to the mastery of versatile weapons using both hands to wield them with deadly efficiency. They are experts in fluid and powerful swordplay, utilizing their weapon to its fullest potential and achieving a level of mastery that few can match.

Blademasters are known for their agility, grace, and precision in combat. They are adept at manipulating their weapon with swift and precise movements, striking their foes with incredible speed and power.

The flame and the Void

The Flame and the Void is a meditative technique that allows a fighter to enter a state of heightened awareness and focus, sharpening their senses and calming their mind. This ability is inspired by the teachings of a legendary order of warriors in order to better understand and control the flow of battle. You may enter calm using the flame and the void using an action. When you enter calm you may enter a sword stance for 1 minute from the following list:

You can select a number of sword forms equal to your proficiency bonus and you may use this feature a number of times equal to your constitution modifier (minimum of 1) You may change which sword forms you have access to during each level up process. You gain access to more sword forms at 7th 13 and 15th level.

Boar Rushes Down the Mountain

When you enter this form you become focused on dealing as much damage as possible with powerful blows. Once per turn you may add a d8 to a weapon attack made with a versatile weapon if you are wielding it with two hands. At 7th and 13th level this increases to 2d8 and 3d8 respectively.

Cat Crosses the Courtyard

The blade master lets his body hang relaxed, spine straight, as though suspended by a line. It affects a self-assured manner and projects confidence, but could also be described as a relaxed, almost arrogant saunter. When you enter this stance you gain advantage on all charisma based skill checks. In addition, when you or an enemy within 5 feet misses an attack you may use your reaction to move up to half of your walking speed without provoking an opportunity attack.

Hummingbird Kisses the Honey-Rose

The Blademaster gains the ability to dodge and weave through their opponent's attacks with remarkable ease, gaining a +2 bonus to their Armor Class and Dexterity saving throws while using this form.

The Cyclone Rages

A defensive form, the cyclone rages focuses on defending the vitals. When at half health or lower you take half damage for non magical slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage and you cannot be incapacitated unless your hit points are reduced to zero.

Unyielding will

Whenever the Blademaster is targeted by a spell or effect that would require them to make a Wisdom saving throw they can use their reaction to gain advantage on the saving throw. In addition when gaining a level of exhaustion you may roll a d20. If the result is an 11 or higher you may ignore that point of exhaustion. You may use this ability once per long rest.

Warders Bond

You are used to fighting side by side with another. Create a bond with another willing creature. You can discern location and if they are experiencing strong emotions. When you are further that 1 mile you can only discern direction and extremely powerful emotions. You and the chosen creature increase your total hit points equal to your proficiency bonus plus your level in fighter.

Death is Lighter than a Feather

The blademaster and death are old acquaintances and it has agreed to make some exceptions. When you or your bonded partner are reduced to zero hitpoints or die, you may immediately take another turn at the conclusion of the current turn. All attacks by and against you are made at advantage until the end of the turn. At the end of the turn you regain one hitpoint. You may not use this ability again until after you have completed a long rest.

Heron Marked Blade

The Heron Marked Blade reflects the culmination of the Blademaster's training and experience, elevating them to a level of skill and power that few ever attain. When the Blademaster makes a weapon attack with a versatile weapon that they are proficient with, they can add their Strength and Dexterity modifiers to the attack and damage rolls.

In addition, at the end of a long rest you may spend 10 minutes honing the edge of a non magical versatile weapon and grant it +2 to attack and damage rolls. This effect ends when you hone a different weapon or finish a long rest
