Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Reprisal are stalwart defenders and skilled combatants, masters of turning the enemy's aggression against them. They train their bodies to be resilient, their reflexes to be lightning-fast, and their minds to be focused and alert. They understand that in battle, taking a blow is sometimes necessary, but they refuse to let it be the end of the fight. Instead, they use that moment of vulnerability to strike back with even greater force.

Their opponents quickly learn that every attack comes with a price, for the monks of the Way of the Reprisal are able to retaliate with a strength and ferocity that few can match. They are living embodiments of the unyielding force of nature, always ready to spring back into action and take the fight to their enemies.

Unflinching Defense

Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to use your reaction to reduce the damage of an attack that hits you. When you take damage from a melee attack, you can spend 1 ki point to reduce the damage by your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier.

Defensive Insight

At 6th level, you gain the ability to read your opponents' movements and anticipate their attacks. As a bonus action, you can spend 2 ki points to gain insight into the defenses of a creature within 30 feet of you. For the next minute, you have advantage on all attack rolls against that creature. You can only understand the defenses of one creature at a time.

Reprisal Aura

At 11th level, you can spend 3 ki points to create an aura of retaliation that surrounds you. For the next minute, any creature that damages you with a melee attack takes flat damage equal to your Wisdom modifier. This damage cannot be reduced in any way.

Reflective Body

At 17th level, your body becomes a weapon in its own right, able to turn back the force of incoming attacks. Whenever you use your Unflinching Defense ability, you can spend an additional 4 ki points to reflect the attack back at its source. The attacker must make a Dexterity saving throw against your monk save DC or take the full damage of the attack they just dealt to you, or half that if they succeed. If the attack was a spell, you have advantage on the saving throw.
