Monk
Base Class: Monk

Temperance and compassion are the keys to inner strength. You have seen the truth of this and operate as an exemplar of self understanding. With the power of the Strength Arcana, your resilience and fearlessness surpass all others.

Inner Strength

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the insight and athletics skills. In addition your connection to the Strength Arcana grants you the following benefits:

In the Face of Danger. You can add your Wisdom modifier to initiative rolls.

Insight into Arcana. As an action, you can choose a number of objects or creatures within 30 feet of you. You learn whether or not the selected objects or creatures bear any magic, and what school of magic they possess. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses on a long rest.

Compassion and Understanding. When you fail a Wisdom (insight) or Intelligence (Arcana) check, you can use your reaction to reroll the check. When you use this feature and turn the failure into a success, it cannot be used again until you finish a long rest.

Focused Strikes

At 3rd level you extend your meditative focus to combat. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to cripple your target, reducing the the target’s movement speed by half.

Fearless Speed

At 6th level, the Strength Arcana has granted you unrivaled speed and the courage to charge into battle. As an action you can spend 4 ki points to cast the haste spell targeting yourself. Your spellcasting ability for this spell is Wisdom.

Strength Reversed

At 11th level you learn how to exploit the anger and fear within your enemies. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can expend 3 ki points in order to inflict one of the following effects:

  • The creature becomes frightened of you for 1 minute and on its turn, must move as far from you as possible taking the dash action. The creature can make a Wisdom saving throw if it takes damage, ending the effect on a success.
  • The creature flies into a frenzy, unable to differentiate friend from foe. For the next minute the creature must attack the creature closest to it. If no creature is within its reach,  it must move towards the closest creature. The creature can make a Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

True Strength

At 17th level, you have become one with the essence of Strength. You can spend 3 ki points to empower your body with a supernatural strength. For the next minute, you can add your Strength and Dexterity modifiers to your unarmed strike attack and damage rolls. In addition, while empowered in this way, you have advantage on all Strength based ability checks.
