Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Imperial bounty hunter, magically tattooed during training, as an explicit endorsement that they hunt enemies of the state.

The Ireshii Protectorate [Empire name] relies heavily on their rangers-spies to hunt enemies down and bring them to justice.  While some are little more than thugs, the old guard still maintain academies to train new recruits that are selective.  Their reputation is of an "unsavory necessity" that conscript the young and seize citizens' goods, even though they officially are not authorized to do either.

Their badge of office and is a ritually-implanted tattoo, usually of a griffin, wyvern or similar ridable mount. While they do not have spells of their own, Redmarks can use the tattoo to bestow minor magical abilities to themselves and their immediate allies.

At higher levels, they can use the tattoo to send communication, summon steeds and debuff enemies.

Protectorate's Writ of Assistance

All Protectorate citizens, high or low, are expected to offer assistance to Redmarks while on official business.   While the political reality of that assistance cause variances, any Redmark that proffers an official writ of assistance - usually in the form of their tattoo - can expect citizens to help, even if meagerly. This aid can come in the form of room and board to picking up arms in defense of their land/town.

This is only an request for assistance - not the ability to conscript people to fight or confiscate equipment.  Furthermore, as a form of security, con artists seeking to pass as Redmarks are dealt with severely - so those that attempt it do not live long, or are so good, they are recruited.

GM's Note: a paladin/ranger crossover with hints of menace.
