Standing Bog Water
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to manipulate the environment around you and duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast Spike Growth, pass without trace, Blindness/Deafness, or silence, without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the Shape Water cantrip if you don’t already know it.
Nettles and Needles
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, You have spent your training in the wild surviving off the land and have learned a great deal in what different flora heals and what harms. You gain proficiency in herbalism kit, poisoner’s kit and can spend half the amount of gold in materials when crafting with these tools.
Strangling Vines
At 6th level Your meditation and practice has given you the ability to focus and extend your ki beyond your reach. You gain proficiency with whips and nets, these counts as monk weapons for you. Your monk weapons now count as magical for overcoming resistances.
If you do not have a whip you can use a ki point to manifest one in your unoccupied hand, this can be done as part of an attack. This whip takes the appearance of a vine.
You can spend one key point and one minute to create 50 feet of vine that has the same properties as 50 ft of hempen rope. You can spend 10 minutes and 3 ki points to weave a net from these vines.
When attacking with a whip or net, you can spend a ki point to impose disadvantage on your target to resist being grappled/restrained
Amphibious
At 6th level the monk has gained mastery of existing in their chosen environment. You can now breathe air as well as underwater. You also gain a swim speed equal to your walking speed.
Symbiotic Relationship
At 11th Level, You can use a bonus action and 3 ki points to breathe your ki into the earth raising a number of earthen copies of yourself equal to your proficiency bonus in as many unoccupied spaces you can see within 15 feet of you. Your copy has AC 14 + WIS modifier, health equal to 1 of your martial arts die + WIS modifier + proficiency bonus, and immunity to all conditions. If it has to make a saving throw, it uses your saving throw bonus for the roll. It is the same size as you, and it occupies its space. It lasts until it is destroyed, until you dismiss it as a bonus action, until you manifest another copy using this ability again, or until you’re incapacitated.
Alternatively, if you are within 15 feet a creature that has fallen within the last day, you can use a bonus action and only 2 ki points to raise that creature using the same stats that creature had in life with a -2 to AC. You can spend 1 additional ki point to bolster the rotting corpse and only have -1 to AC. A creature brought under your control this way lasts maximum of 2 hours or until it is destroyed, until you dismiss it, until you manifest another copy using this ability again, or until you’re incapacitated.
On your turn, you can mentally command the copy to move up to 30 feet in any direction (no action required). If your echo is ever more than 30 feet from you at the end of your turn, it is destroyed.
While under your command You can use it in the following ways:
- As a bonus action, you can teleport, magically swapping places with your earthen copy at a cost of 15 feet of your movement, regardless of the distance between the two of you.
- When you take the Attack action on your turn, any attack you make with that action can originate from your space or the copy’s space. You make this choice for each attack.
- When a creature that you can see within 5 feet of your copy moves at least 5 feet away from it, you can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack against that creature as if you were in the copy’s space.
Opportunistic Predator
At level 17 you harness your ki into the very depths of the earth to set a trap for your enemies. For 5 ki points, over the next hour Any creatures of your choice within 40 foot radius experience the area as difficult terrain as the ground begins to swallow them. Any creature being affected by difficult terrain must succeed a dexterity saving throw equal to DC8+WIS modifier at the start of your turn or be pulled 10 feet closer to you at the center of the area. If they get pulled closer, they also get pulled down and are considered prone. A creature or an ally can attempt to break free from this condition by using an action to succeed at a strength check DC 8+WIS modifier and half of their movement to get up from prone.
If a creature does not break free of the condition before your next turn, they have disadvantage on the dexterity saving throw to being pulled again. If pulled again, the creature now has the grappled and restrained condition, their movement is 0 and only their head is above the ground. A creature can continue to try and break free of this condition on their turn but now have disadvantage unless being helped by an ally who must also spend an action to assist.
If a creature does not break free of the condition before your next turn, they must now succeed a constitution saving throw DC 8+WIS Modifier+ Proficiency Bonus. If the creature fails, they are pulled towards you an additional 10 feet if they are not already within your melee range, they are still only a head above the ground. The creature also takes 3d8 bludgeoning damage at the start of its turn as the earth is now beginning to consume them. If they succeed the CON save, they take half damage and are not pulled.
The monk can embolden the Opportunistic Predator field with an additional 3 ki points to change this damage type to Necrotic. They can also use their ki to distribute this taken life force to themselves or any number of other allies within the field and regain hit points equal to damage taken by the creature.
