Base Class: Artificer
You no longer know the difference between magic and technology, your mechanical wonders are so advanced that not even you can explain the science behind it, being described as magic by itself. The Arcane Engineers break all the rules about mechanical components, they are seen as mages or wizards by other artificers. However, this came with a price, and not even you can understand your creations sometimes, needing to progress slowly with your inventions, learning them one by one, like the wizards do.
Magic proficency
When you adopt this specialization at the 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the Arcana Skill. If you already have this proficiency, you double your proficiency bonus with that skill.
Engineering Spellcasting
Starting at the 3rd level, your inventions are so marvelous that they look like magic. You learn how to channel new effects with these machines.
Spells: You receive a new magic slot table, that looks like the wizard table (full caster table). You now can learn all the spells from the Wizards list. When you choose this specialization at the 3rd level, you learn 4 wizard spells that you can cast (based on your new table), you learn 2 new spells from this list every time you level up. The spell learned can't be any level higher than what you can cast. Every time you level up, you can change one of these spells. These spells can be prepared among the ones from your Artificer Spell list, and for all the effects they work as artificer spells.
Cantrips: You also receive one new cantrip, this cantrip and any other you receive from the artificer spell table can be chosen from the artificer or wizard spell list. For all the effects these cantrips are treated as artificer cantrips.
Master of the Small Tricks
At the 5th level, you became a specialist in using your inventions to do small effects and are always prepared for every kind of situation. You gain the following benefits:
- Every time you finish a long rest you can change a cantrip to another from the artificer or wizard spell list.
- You can cast a cantrip that has a casting time of 1 action as a bonus action. You can do this a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
- You add your Intelligence modifier to the damage you deal with any cantrip.
Versatile Machinery
At level 9th you discover new ways to power your gadgets and inventions, channeling magical essence that is different from what you're used to. Choose a spellcasting class that isn't Artificer or Wizard, you can learn spells from this class the same way you do with the spells from the wizard list. You can also add your proficiency bonus to the number of spells you can prepare.
Improved Inventions
At level 15th, you have learned how to store spells in a more efficient way, creating gadgets and inventions with the power to simulate them. You receive the following benefits:
- You can store spells from any spell you have learned.
- You can store 3rd-level spells.
