Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Within your being courses the essence of the great gem dragons, an ancient lineage interwoven with your bloodline or that of your forebears. The origin of your sorcerous power lies in the harmonious fusion of draconic magic with your own. Tales often recount the connection of sorcerers like you to legendary beings of gem dragon kin, with ancestry traced back to a renowned sorcerer of yore who entered pacts with these majestic creatures or even claimed them as forebears. While some of these lineages are celebrated in the annals of history, most remain veiled in obscurity. You, as a sorcerer, might be the catalyst for a nascent bloodline, forged through exceptional pacts or extraordinary events.

Crystalline defence

As magic flows through your body, it causes physical traits of your dragon ancestors to emerge. At 1st level, your hit point maximum increases by 1 and increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class.

Additionally, parts of your skin are covered by a thin sheen of crystalline dragon-like scales. When you aren’t wearing armor, you gain to levitate off the ground to any height within 5 to 50 ft (works similarly to the spell Levitate)

energy Affinity

Starting at 6th level, when a damage type that is associated with your draconic ancestry tries to deal damage, you can use your reaction to redirect that damage type to your own weaponry, yourself empowering yourself with it or simply return the damage back to the one who dealt it.

At level 18 you get to negate the damage

Energetic Prism Burst

At 14th level, your attunement with gem dragons reaches its pinnacle in the Energetic Prism Burst, a radiant release of diverse energies that empowers both your allies and your attacks. As an action, you can channel the multifaceted energy essence of gem dragons through yourself, creating a burst of prismatic energy.

For each use of this feature, choose one of the following gem types: sapphire, emerald, crystal, topaz, or amethyst. Each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you, including yourself, gains the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • Sapphire Resonance: The affected creatures' melee attacks deal an additional 1d6 thunder damage.
  • Emerald Insight: The affected creatures' melee attacks ignore resistance and impose disadvantage on the next saving throw the target makes before the end of its next turn.
  • Crystalline Radiance: The affected creatures shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. Enemies within this radius have disadvantage on attack rolls against affected creatures.
  • Topaz Drain: When the affected creatures deal damage with a melee attack, they regain hit points equal to half the damage dealt.
  • Amethyst Impulse: The affected creatures' movement speed increases by 10 feet, and they can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain.

In addition, as part of this action, you can make a ranged spell attack against a creature of your choice within 60 feet. On a hit, the target takes damage of the chosen type (thunder, psychic, radiant, necrotic, or force), dealing 1d6 plus your Charisma modifier.

You can use this feature 5 times, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Gemdragon Ascendance

At 18th level, your mastery over gem dragon energies reaches its zenith, allowing you to temporarily transcend mortal limitations. As an action, you can invoke the Ascendance of the Gemdragon, calling upon the combined power of gem dragon essences.

For the duration of 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain resistance to all damage types.
  • You can cast spells without expending sorcery points.
  • You can use your Energetic Prism Burst feature without expending uses.
  • Your movement speed increases by 20 feet.
  • You can fly at a speed of 60 feet.
  • Your Energetic Prism Burst attack transforms into the "Gemdragon's Radiant Edge": A melee or ranged weapon attack (your choice) that deals 2d8 force damage + your Charisma modifier. The damage type of the attack matches the gem type you choose (thunder, psychic, radiant, necrotic, or force).
  • When you score a critical hit with the Gemdragon's Radiant Edge, the target is also stunned until the end of your next turn.

Once you use this feature, you must finish a long rest before you can use it again.
