Base Class: Fighter
The Monarch of Shadows combines high martial mastery from the fighters with an innate ability with dark magic. The Monarchs of Shadows make use of their deadly martial prowess and obscure arcane capacities to fight and destroy their enemies. Although their unique abilities shine when dealing with the fallen enemies, as they extract their dark essence to create an army of creatures made of shadows that will follow their commands without any bit of hesitation.
Spellcasting
Upon reaching level 3 your character undergoes an awakening causing them to gain new abilities, skills, and other benefits.
You gain the following upon reaching the 3rd level
- Your Walking speed increases by 10ft
- You gain access to the Mage Hand cantrip.
Additionally, you learn how to use the shadows to aid you in battle. When fighting in darkness or dim light you gain advantage on the first attack on each of your turns.
Shadow Extraction
Upon reaching level 3, you gain the ability to create allies from the fallen. A shadow soldier can be created from the body of any recently dead creature.
As a bonus action, you may focus and try to extract a shadow soldier from a creature that has been dead no longer than 3 hours and is within 10 ft of you.
The first attempt has a 40% chance of success, the second attempt is 20%, and the third attempt is 5%. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
A use is only used up if the extraction was successful.
If the extraction is a success a Shadow Soldier is created within 10ft of you with the following details.
- A shadow Soldier is a duplicate of the dead creature meaning it has all of the same abilities and skills minus any Legendary abilities or Legendary Resistances.
- The shadow Soldier has half of the original creatures Max Hit Points.
- The shadow Solider is only summoned for a number of minutes equal to the dead original creatures Challenge rating or a minimum of 1 minute.
- The shadow Soldier is treated as a friendly creature meaning you can use them to initiate sneak attack
- The shadow Soldier can be healed
- In combat, The shadow Soldier shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don’t issue any, it takes the Dodge action and uses its move to avoid danger.
If you are incapacitated or absent, the soldier acts on its own, focusing on protecting you and itself. It never requires your command to use its reaction, such as when making an opportunity attack.
Save Shadow Soldier
Upon reaching 3th level you gain the ability to save an amount of Shadow Soldiers equal to your proficiency level to call upon when ever you need.
You can use an action to touch on shadow soldier and make it part of your shadow. As an action you can call forth the saved Shadow Soldier to serve you or to have it return to your shadow.
The saved shadow Soldier doesn't have a time limit and is only dismissed if it is killed or if the shadow is returned to your shadow.
Shadow Exchange
When you reach level 7 you gain the ability to switch places with any of your shadow Soldiers.
As a Bonus Action you can swap places with any of your shadow Soldiers. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. All expended uses are regained once a long rest is completed.
Shadow Recovery
At 10th level, you gain the ability to heal your Shadow Soldiers with dark magic before they are defeated. As an Reaction, you can fully restore the Hit Points for one of your Shadow Soldiers within 30 feet of you if their Hit Points are reduced to 0 or below. You can do this a number of times equal to your constitution modifier per long rest.
At 18th level, the number of times per long rest are doubled.
Domain of the Monarch
At level 15, your mastery over your necromancy has improved. Shadows that you control within 30 feet of you gain 10 temporary hitpoints, a +1 bonus to attack rolls, and a +1 bonus to armor class.
At 18th level, the radius of your domain extends 60 feet, and your shadows gain an additional +1 bonus to attack rolls and another 15 temporary hitpoints.
The Monarch of the Shadows
legendary creatures can now be turned into Shadow Soldiers, but you must roll a percentage to determine your succeess, depending on their CR:
- 5 - 10: 30% or superior to succeed.
- 11 - 15: 40% or superior to succeed.
- 16 - 20: 50% or superior to succeed.
You can also turn only one creature with a CR of 21-24, but you must roll an 80% or higher in the d100 to successfully convert it into a Shadow Soldier.
