Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who walk the Path of Fundamental Chaos embrace the inherent volatility of life in the universe to produce wild effects when they enter a rage.

Chaos Burst

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can channel broiling energy into your weapon strikes by utilising a Chaos Burst. When you expend a use of chaos burst, you deal an additional 2d4 damage to a creature you hit with a melee weapon attack; the damage type is determined by rolling on the table below. You can unleash a number of Chaos Bursts equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest

The amount of extra damage increases at higher levels, becoming 2d6 at 6th level and 2d8 at 14th level.

d8 Chaos Damage Type
1 Acid
2 Lightning
3 Force
4 Cold
5 Fire
6 Psychic
7 Thunder
8 Poison

Fundamental Force

Also at level 3, when you enter your rage, you invoke a Fundamental Force. When you enter your rage, roll on the Fundamental Force table:

d4 Fundamental Force
1 Temporal Morass (Time)
2 Space
3 Orbital Decay (Gravity)
4 Probability Matrix (Potential)
  • Temporal Morass (Time): You begin to flicker with blue and red after-images, and the timing of your movements becomes erratic. Hostile creatures that start their turn within 15 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw to avoid having their speed halved and losing their reaction until the start of their next turn. The DC is 8 + proficiency + your Constitution modifier.
  • Space: You become slightly transparent and your body is seemingly dotted with faint stars and astronomical bodies. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack, you can teleport up to 60 feet to a point you can see.
  • Orbital Decay (Gravity): Everything around you gets dimmer and the light seems to bend around your form. Gravity seem to have more of a pull for everyone in the room as you generate an aura of heavy gravity. Enemies within 15 feet are pulled up to 10 feet toward you and suffer disadvantage on attacks against creatures other than you.
  • Probability Matrix (Potential): Your eyes flash with multi-coloured sparks. You and each ally within 10 feet of you can add a d4 to attack rolls and saving throws.

Fundamental Force Unleashed

At 6th level, you can empower your rage by expending a use of Chaos Burst, triggering a different effect for each type of rage:

  • Hyper Rage (Time): You become a red and blue blur. Your movement speed is doubled and you can use a bonus action to make an additional attack or take the Disengage action.
  • Wormhole Strike (Space): You charge up and open two portals, one next to you and another at a point within 60 feet. You may attack a creature through this portal as if the two portals are adjacent to one another. This attack deals additional damage equal to one roll of a Chaos Burst. Alternatively, you can reach your arms through the portal and use your strength to move objects on the other side.
  • Density Well (Gravity): You concentrate and deepen the gravitational pull centred on yourself. You cannot be moved against your will or be knocked prone. The first creature you hit on each of your turns with a melee weapon attack must succeed on a strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
  • Dreadful Misfortune (Potential): When a creature misses you with an attack, you can use your reaction to force the creature to re-roll the attack against itself; on a hit the creature takes half damage.

Random Access Memory

Beginning at 10th level, your dreams are filled with visions of the cosmos. Whenever you finish a long rest, you gain proficiency in ability checks of one type as passing streaks of thought and memory collide with you in your sleep. You retain this proficiency until you finish your next long rest. Roll on the Ability table to determine what ability is influenced by your dreams:

d6 Ability
1 Strength
2 Dexterity
3 Constitution
4 Intelligence
5 Wisdom
6 Charisma

Charisma

You dream of compulsive liars, imposing fighters, captivating bards and enthralling public speakers; some of their inherent charm is imparted on you.

Constitution

Your sleep is comfortable and rejuvenating; you feel ready to start a new day.

Dexterity

You dream of dancing fairies, devious conmen and elusive thieves; some of their dextrous talents are imparted on you.

Intelligence

You dream of inquisitive wizards, earnest scholars, careful researchers, ancient druids and devout priests; some of their bountiful knowledge is imparted on you.

Strength

You dream of great warriors; some of their reassuring strength is imparted on you.

Wisdom

You dream of loving shepherds, discerning guards, altruistic healers, vigilant protectors and well-travelled explorers; some of their learned wisdom is imparted on you.

Singularity

At 14th level, the swarming chaos within you can reach a breaking point. When you expend a use of Chaos Burst to empower a rage, you can expend 2 additional Chaos Bursts to become a Singularity of Chaos.

You create a swirling field of cosmic debris that surrounds you out to a radius of 15ft, designating any number of creatures you can see to be unaffected by it. An affected creature's speed is halved in the area, and when the creature enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must make a DC {{savedc:con}} Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 5d8 Chaos damage. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage. If you start your turn with fewer hit points than half your hit point maximum, you must succeed on a DC {{savedc:con}} Constitution saving throw or risk the field dispersing violently. Every piece of debris in the field is catapulted outward at incredible speed, causing all exposed creatures within 60ft to suffer 2d8 Chaos damage. Your empowerment ends as you lose control momentarily.
