Base Class: Artificer
The Magic Academy has many interesting topics, but none of them could satisfy your thirst for knowledge. You yearn for something special, something unknown, something occult. One of the less explored areas of magic is the occult, a forgotten area of magic that is poorly or not at all documented.
The occultist uses knowledge and special tools to explore places and creatures and unlock their secrets. Armed to solve even the most intricate riddles, occultists are always on the lookout for new unfathomed mysteries and great unknown dangers.
Occultist Spells
Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Occultist Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Learned by the Forgotten
Starting at 3rd level, you’ve learned a lot out of books, but many secrets can’t be found in written words. Your studies go way beyond the library. You gain proficiency in two INT-Based Skill (Arcana, History, Investigation, Nature or Religion), furthermore you gain the ability to cast Speak with Dead once per Long Rest
Tools of an Occultist
Starting at 5th level, you learned to use specific tools to help you with your research. Whether it's a divining rod, a pendulum, specific stones and gems or another occult tool. These devices guide you by your studies and help you find hidden magical tracks and marks.
You can use the Spell Identify or Detect Magic for free. Furthermore, your Detect Magic spell will give you advantage on your survival checks, by showing you magical tracks if existing, to find magical creatures like constructs, elementals, fiends, monstrosities, oozes or undeads.
Study of Circles
Starting at 9th level, your journey through the arcane and occult knowledge brought you to dangerous places and creatures. To study them without critical incidents, you learn about different kinds of magical circles.
You create a 15-foot-radius, cylinder of magical energy centered on a point on the ground that you can see within 15 ft. of you. Glowing runes appear wherever the cylinder intersects with the floor or other surface.
Choose one of the following types of creatures: constructs, elementals, fiends, humanoids, monstrosities, oozes or undeads. The circle affects a creature of the chosen type in the following ways:
- The targeted creature can't willingly enter or leave the cylinder by non magical means. The creature can’t use teleportation or interplanar travel to do so.
- The targeted creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against targets on the other side of the wall.
- Creatures within the cylinder can't be charmed, frightened, or possessed.
- Creatures within the circle are bound to the floor.
When you use this feature, you can choose to cause its magic to operate in the reverse direction, keeping a creature within the circle or preventing a creature from leaving the circle and protecting targets outside it. If you trap a creature inside the circle, it is allowed to make a charisma saving throw against your Spell-DC to free itself. The circle however, will stay intact.
You can keep the circle active, as long as you are within 15 ft. of the circle. However, every 4 hours you keep this feature active, will give you a level of exhaustion.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Occult Profession
Starting at 15th level, you learned a lot by studying the occult, at this point there is rarely something you can’t explain or recall. You gain expertise in two intelligence based Skills (Arcana, History, Investigation, Nature and Religion).
Furthermore you saw some hefty moves during your travels through the darker places. You know how to dodge or at least lessen the effect of those attacks. You gain resistances against necrotic- and force damage.
