Base Class: Fighter
Palisades are warriors that excel at defense; they wield massive steel bulwarks, and stand at the forefront of battle. Palisades are taught that the lives of those they defend are more precious than even their own. Palisades are honorable; self-sacrificing; willing to lay down their lives to protect those that they would seek to defend.
Shield Parry
You are a master of defensive combat, your shield acting as an extension of your will on the battlefield. When wielding a shield and another creature hits you with an attack you can, as a reaction, raise your shield and add your proficiency bonus to your AC for that attack, potentially causing that attack to miss you. If this feature causes a melee attack to miss you, you can make a melee weapon attack against that creature as part of the same reaction.
Taunting Shout
You are a master of manipulating the battlefield, planting your shield and releasing a powerful, echoing battle cry to intimidate your enemies into striking you.
Starting at 7th level, you can release a mighty shout, taunting enemies and forcing them to attack you. As an action, all enemies within 10 feet of you that can hear you must make a DC 15 Wisdom Saving Throw. On a failure, on their next turn, they must use their action to attack you. On a success, nothing happens. Melee attacks made against you while the target is under this effect are made at disadvantage. You can do this twice, and regain all expended uses upon taking a short rest.
Shield Bash
Starting at 10th level, you become a master of interweaving martial blows into your battle style using your shield. If a melee attack misses you while you are wielding a shield, you can deal bludgeoning damage equal to your Strength modifier to the attacker as you parry the blow with your shield. You can do this once per creature per round.
In addition, if you attack a creature using your Shield Parry feature, you can make two attacks as part of that reaction, instead of one.
Unending Safeguard
Your commitment to protecting those around you has developed to the point of an inescapable instinct.
Starting at 15th level, when your hit points are brought to 0, but you do not die, you do not fall over. Instead, you remain standing, shield at the ready. While standing in this way, you make Death Saving Throws at advantage, but your unconscious body is considered half cover, and creatures can stand behind you to receive this benefit. The only way your unconscious body will fall over is if it is subjected to an effect that inflicts the prone condition, or if it is forcibly moved.
In addition, if you use your Shield Parry reaction, you can now use one additional reaction per round.
Unbreakable
You are an invincible force on the battlefield, refusing to fall even to the most devastating damage. Starting at 18th level, you can use your Second Wind feature an unlimited amount of times per short rest. In addition, if you use your Shield Parry reaction to cause an incoming attack to miss, you can make three attacks as part of the same reaction.
