Base Class: Fighter
Chaosblades are warriors who have been corrupted by the raw power of chaos and incorporated it into their fighting style. Embracing the unpredictable nature of chaos magic, they channel its energy through their weapons and wreak havoc on the battlefield. Chaosblades are a force to be reckoned with, their strikes capable of causing havoc and disrupting their foes.
Chaos Strike At 3rd level, when you choose this subclass, your attacks become infused with chaotic energy. Whenever you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can choose to unleash a surge of chaotic energy. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier (your choice). On a failed save, the target takes an additional 1d6 damage of a random damage type (acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder).
The damage of the Chaos Strike increases as you gain levels in this class, becoming 2d6 at 10th level and 3d6 at 18th level.
Chaos Surge At 7th level, you gain the ability to tap into bursts of chaotic energy to enhance your combat abilities. As a bonus action, you can enter a state of Chaos Surge for 1 minute. During this time, you gain the following benefits:
- You have advantage on Dexterity saving throws.
- When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can use your reaction to force the target to make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes additional damage equal to your fighter level, and it suffers disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Chaotic Evasion Starting at 10th level, your affinity for chaos allows you to evade attacks with unnatural grace. When a creature makes a melee attack against you and misses, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature.
Additionally, you gain the Evasion feature. When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.
Chaos Unleashed At 15th level, your strikes become even more chaotic and destructive. Whenever you score a critical hit against a creature, you can choose to unleash a surge of wild magic. Roll on the Wild Magic Surge table and apply the result to the target of your critical hit.
Unpredictable Assault At 18th level, your attacks become a whirlwind of chaos and unpredictability. Whenever you take the Attack action, you can make an additional melee weapon attack. Additionally, once per turn, when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can choose to expend one use of your Action Surge feature to immediately make another melee weapon attack against the same target.
With Unpredictable Assault, you become a relentless force of chaos on the battlefield, striking swiftly and unpredictably to overwhelm your enemies.
