Base Class: Bard
Though most bards create their arts and magic through chords and song, some choose to instead let their heart speak through their music. Not bound by conventional music rules, bards of the College of Improvisation let go of some of the control they have while performing their arts, causing their magic to become unpredictable and sometimes even unstable.
Unexpected Melodies
When you join the College of Improvisation at 3rd level, you get rid of the care and consideration you once used when casting spells. Immediately after you cast a bard spell of 1st level or higher, the DM can have you roll a d20. If you roll a 1, roll on the sorcerer's Wild Magic Surge table (pg. 104 of the Player's Handbook) to create a random magical effect. On a 99-00 you regain all of your bardic inspiration.
Careless Movements
Also at 3rd level, you learn how to let your body move on its own in combat. As a reaction when you get attacked, before the DM has declared the result, you can spend one point of bardic inspiration to have the attacker roll disadvantage on this attack.
Any time after you use this feature, the DM can have you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table immediately after you cast a bard spell of 1st level or higher, or after you or an ally use your bardic inspiration.
Confusing Rythms
Starting at 6th level, you gain the ability to let go of all conventional rules of your art and perform something so bizarre, others won't know what they see. As a bonus action, you can cast confusion, without expending a spell slot, and you gain a bonus of 1 to your AC for 1 minute or until your concentration ends (as if you were concentrating on a spell). During this time, you can cast confusion as a bonus action on each of your turns, without expending a spell slot or breaking concentration on your previously confused targets.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Avant Garde
At 14th level, you gain a modicum of control over the effects of your melodies. Whenever you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table, you can roll twice and use either number.
