Base Class: Monk
A Monk studying in the Way of the Royalguard believes that every and all living things that walk the earth are teeming with a formless primordial magic that is unfit to wield as is. But by utilizing their Ki, they can channel the adversity of the world into a ballpeen hammer that forges their own energy into its proper shape.
Guard
At 3rd level, when you take this tradition, you've gained the ability to tap into a pool of energy created by your Ki to forge and refine the magic hidden in your adversaries: Royal Points. Your pool of Royal Points empties out after a short/long rest, and at the end of each combat. Any Royal Points lost in this way are converted into Ki Points at a conversion rate of 1 Ki Point per 10 Royal Points. You may only have a maximum number of Royal Points equal to your Monk level x 10.
Whenever you would be targeted for an attack roll, you may spend your reaction in an attempt to deflect the attack. You must declare this action before the outcome of the role is determined. If the attack would miss you, you fully deflect the attack, absorbing any of the damage it would have done as Royal Points (your DM may use the average damage of the attack instead of rolling for the outcome at their discretion). If the attack hits you, you must spend 1 Ki Point to reduce the damage by a roll of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier + your Monk level, and gain Royal Points equal to the damage prevented in this way. If you cannot spend 1 Ki Point, you take damage as normal.
Release
Starting at 3rd level, you've learned to utilize the magic of your inner forge to cast spells. You know three spells of your choice from the Sorcerer spell list. Additionally, you learn more at higher levels: you know 6, 9, and 12 spells at 6th, 9th, and 17th level respectively. You may cast these spells by using Royal Points as a substitute for spell slots. To cast a spell in this way, you must spend a number of Royal Points equal to the spell's level x 10.
Wisdom is your Spell Casting ability for your Release Spells, since the strength of your spells comes from your ability to mold an unknowable primordial energy into a physical existence through force of will. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a Release Spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
Refined Release
At 6th level, you've gained a greater control with which you can invoke spells with your Chakra, and can channel it into one of the seven chakras of the body. Once at the end of a long rest, you may spend one hour meditating in order to unlock your Chakras. You gain two Body Chakras of your choice, spending ki points to invoke them. This increases to four, and seven Body Chakras at 11th and 17th levels respectively.
You may change your unlocked Body Chakras at the end of a long rest. You may only activate one Body Chakra when casting a release spell when you cast it.
The Crown - Sahasrara
Whenever you make a spell attack roll against a hostile creature, you may spend 3 Ki Points to gain advantage on that attack roll. Whenever a hostile creature(s) would make a saving throw against your spell save DC, you may spend 3 Ki Points to invoke disadvantage on that hostile creature(s) save. A vibrant violet beam crowning the top of your head as you cast.
The Eye - Ajna
Whenever you make a spell attack roll against a hostile creature, you may spend 2 Ki Points as you do. The target cannot benefit from any forms of cover against this spell, as it rips through the air with an indigo light.
The Heart - Anahata
Whenever you would cast a spell on an allied creature, you may spend 1 Ki Point to instead cast it on all allied creatures within 10ft of you. Your magic flowing out of you in a green vapor.
The Root - Muladhara
Whenever you would spend an action to cast a spell with a range of self, you may spend 1 Ki Point to cast it as a bonus action instead. This gives any visual effects of the spell a red tint/hue.
The Sacral - Svadishana
Whenever you invoke the Guard feature, you may spend 2 Ki Points to gain temporary hit points equal to the damage you prevent, your Chakra intercepting the blow with a burst of orange light.
The Solar - Manipura
Whenever you unlock this Body Chakra, you must designate one spell you know that only targets one creature and does not have a range of self as your Solar Spell. Whenever you score your first successful unarmed strike each turn, you may spend one ki point to activate the effects of your Solar Spell, targeting the creature you scored the unarmed strike on. Your fist, and in turn, your enemy being enveloped by a yellow light.
The Throat - Vishuddha
Whenever you cast a spell, you may spend 1 Ki Point to cast it without any somatic or verbal components. The only indication that you've cast a spell being the azure glow in your eyes.
Rapid Release
Starting at 6th level, you've learned that you don't always need to craft your Chakra into spells; sometime, a more direct approach is in order. Whenever you activate Flurry of Blows, you may spend Royal Points in intervals of 10 as you do. You may make an additional unarmed strike for every 10 Royal Points spent in this way, up to a maximum of two additional unarmed strikes. This maximum increases to four and six unarmed strikes at 11th and 17th level respectively.
Greater Guard
Starting at 11th level, your attunement to the energy of all around you has allowed you to read the actions of your adversaries. You may spend your reaction to declare a target. Until your next turn, you may invoke the Guard feature for any attack rolls that target makes without spending your reaction. You must still spend Ki Points as normal.
Rotating Release
At 11th level, your Ki and your inner magic have begun to swirl into an unrelenting Chakra that can reach anything your light touches. Whenever you cast a Release Spell at a level higher than its base level, you may activate Flurry of Blows without spending Ki Points. In addition, any unarmed strikes you make in this way have their range increased to match that of the spell that triggered this feature.
Royal Release
At 17th level, you have gained an ultimate control over the flow of your Chakra and can use it to turn the tides of the energy and force acted upon you. Any time you would gain Royal Points, you may instead redirect prevented damage back at the attacker as force damage. In addition, your Royal Points do not empty out at the end of combat, and you may freely convert your Royal Points into Ki Points outside of combat (using the conversion rules as established in the Guard feature).
