Path of Despair

Traveling the planes often incurs danger from the exotic entities which inhabit them, but few take into account the danger the plane itself poses to would-be adventurers. The Shadowfell is no exception, and those who are influenced by the despair of the gloomy plane end up succumbing or resisting to its influence. Those who follow this path choose a third option- they choose to embrace it. By fueling your rage with this despair, you gain access to the powers of the dark plane.

Umbral Grasp

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can manipulate darkness around you to harry your enemies. As a bonus action on your turn, you may attempt to grapple a creature within 15 feet of you with your shadow. If you successfully grapple the creature you may pull it up to 15 feet directly towards you. A creature grappled in this way takes 1d4 psychic damage at the start of its turn. This damage increases by 1d4 when you reach 5th level (2d4), 11th level (3d4) and 17th level (4d4).

Pit of Sorrow

Beginning at 6th level, while raging you darkness coalesces around you, hampering your opponent's movement around you in a 15 ft radius. This area counts as difficult terrain to creatures hostile to you.

Dark Transfusion

Beginning at 10th level, you begin to be more attuned to the dark energies of the Shadowfell, allowing you to absorb strength from your enemies. When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you may reduce their strength score by 1d4 to a minimum of 1, and increase yours by one. This can temporarily increase your strength score above normal limitations. This effect lasts until the end of your next long rest. You may use this feature twice per long rest.

Beast of Shadow

At 14th level, you are able to assume the form of a monstrous beast made of pure shadow. At the start of your rage you may choose to gain the following additional effects:

• You grow to Large size.
• You deal an extra 1d4 necrotic damage on melee weapon attacks, and your unarmed strikes deal 1d10 slashing damage.
• You can pass through small holes, narrow openings, and even mere cracks.
• You can pass through and occupy the space of another creature.
