Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins of the Broken Oath, Unfettered Blade, are former true believers who broke their oath to the deities they served due to the constant wars and hypocrisy of their uncaring gods. Rather than relying on an uncaring deity for power, they now let their passion and dedication to swordsmanship control their fates.

Judgement Reserved

Whereas Paladins of Broken Oath Unfettered Blade are quick to help those in need, it is not lost on them that dogma and unquestioning judgement is what drove them away.  Unless someone is being harmed, they are very slow to judgement, if any at all.

Passion Fuels Destiny

BOUF's don't rely on gods to give them power, they believe that passion and sheer force of will in their training is what will ultimately control their destinies.

Natual Order of Chaos

Controlling oneself is the key to power. Controlling anything else, is how the gods lost you.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Unbeliever's Destiny

As an action, you present your symbol and all allies within 30 feet who don't worship a deity are treated as though they have the bless spell cast on them for 1 minute.

Shield of Self Reliance

As a bonus action, you can use your Channel Divinity to use Shield of Self Reliance. For 1 minute you receive a +2 AC bonus. This cannot stack with either a shield or the shield of faith spell, if cast both effects are ended immediately.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Broken Oath, Unfettered Blade Spells

Passion Drives Fate

Starting at 7th level you, as well as any allies who don't worship a diety within 10 feet of you gain a bonus to melee weapon damage equal to your charisma modifier (minimum of +1). A creature can benefit from this feature from only one paladin at a time.

At 18th level, the range increases to 30 feet.

Hardened Body

At 15th level, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical weapons.

Unfettered Avatar

Starting at 20th level, you can become an incarnate avatar of your ideals for 1 minute. This form grants the following benefits:

  • Act as though freedom of movement is cast on you
  • You and creatures within 30 feet of you deal an extra 1d8 radiant damage on all melee attacks

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
