Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of this college have come to accept that death is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be the end. Your body may wither, but your heroic deeds can live on forever in the myths and legends of history, and this is what drives a bard of this college; to become a legend. Your average story may come and go as time trudges forward, but the tale of a true legend will be told throughout its eternity. These bards often blend their knack for storytelling and theatrics with the pride and glory that comes with a great battle, wielding only the trustiest weapon by their side.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Legends at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with shields and the spear. While you are wielding a spear, they gain the finesse property.

Fighting Style

At 3rd level, you adopt a style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can’t take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if something in the game lets you choose again.

Defense

While you are wearing armor, you gain a +1 bonus to AC.

Dueling

When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.

Protection

When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You must be wielding a shield.

Spear Craft

At 3rd level, you learn to conduct impressive displays of martial prowess and speed. You gain a number of Spear Craft options that enhance your combat capabilities at 3rd level, and gain additional Spear Craft options at 6th level. You can use only one Spear Craft option per turn. You must also be wielding a shield and a spear in order to gain these benefits.

Heroic Lunge. You can expend one use of your Spear Craft when you make a melee weapon attack on your turn to increase your range for that attack by 5 feet. You can also add your Charisma modifier to the attack roll. If you hit, you deal extra damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.

Phalanx Thrust. When you are attacked by a creature within 5 feet of you that you can see, you can expend one use of your Spear Craft to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. If the attack misses, you can use your reaction and make an attack of opportunity against the target. If you hit, you deal extra damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.

Vanquish. You can expend one use of your Spear Craft when you make a melee weapon attack against a creature that is charmed or frightened by you, or incapacitated, or restrained to give yourself advantage on that attack roll. If you hit, you deal extra damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die plus half your bard level.

Heroic Hold (6th Level). You can expend one use of your Spear Craft as a bonus action to give yourself advantage on Strength saving throws until the start of your next turn. In addition, when a creature you can see moves into the reach you have with the melee weapon you’re wielding, you can make one attack against the creature, using that weapon. If you hit, you deal extra damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.

Interposition (6th Level). When you fail a Dexterity saving throw, you can expend one use of your Spear Craft and use your reaction to gain a bonus to all Dexterity saving throws equal to the AC value of a shield that you are wielding, including against the triggering saving throw, until the start of your next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Extra Attack

Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Moreover, you can cast the vicious mockery cantrip in place of one of those attacks.

Master Spearcraft

Starting at 14th level, whenever you use a Spear Craft option from 3rd level, you can roll a d4 and use it instead of expending a use of your Spear Craft.
