Base Class: Monk
When one reaches their limit, it takes a special person to keep going. To break through and persevere is what it mean to be limitless. Walkers of this road are experts at manipulating their ki, and the building energy lets them break their limits.
Limit Techniques
Starting at 3rd level, you have felt the limit of your strength, and push past. When you use ki points, you gain Limitless Ki equal to the amount of ki used. At the start of your turn you may enter your Limitless State until the start of your next turn, where you can chose to stay in or leave this state. You lose access to your normal Ki Points and instead use your Limitless Ki. You can use Limitless Ki to use the following features.
Limitless Burst. As a bonus action after you take the Attack action, you may spend 2 Limitless Ki and send a burst of ki out in a 30ft x 5ft line. Creatures in the area make a Dex saving throw, taking force damage equal to two rolls of your Unarmed Strike damage in Force damage on a failure, and half on a success.
Empowered. The area becomes a 60ft x 15ft line, and creatures take two additional Unarmed Strike damage rolls, getting knocked back a number of feet equal to 10 x prof. bonus on a failure.
Limitless Reversal. As a reaction to getting hit with an attack, you may spend 2 Limitless Ki and contest the attack roll that hit you with an Unarmed Strike attack, adding a roll of your Martial Arts Die to the roll. If you win, you reduce the damage by a roll of your Unarmed Strike + your Monk Level. If you win by 5 or more, you take half damage from the attack and deal your Unarmed Strike damage against the creature, knocking them up 20ft into the air. If you win by 10 or more, you take half damage from the attack and follow them up into the air after the knock up, dealing your Unarmed Strike damage again and sending them back to the ground. You take no fall damage from this movement.
Empowered. You take no damage from the attack, and the creature gets knocked up 50ft. Both damage rolls deal an extra roll of your Martial Arts die.
You lose your Limitless Ki on a long rest.
Limit Break
Starting at 6th level, the stress of using your Limitless State builds to a breaking point. Once per turn, while in your Limitless State and you get hit by an attack, you get a rank of Break. At five ranks of Break, you lose all ranks and enter a stronger version of your Limitless State. While in this empowered state, you have the following benefits.
- You gain a number of Temporary Hit Points equal to your Monk level.
- You gain a bonus to your AC, saving throws, and attack rolls equal to half your Proficiency Bonus rounded up.
- You double the movement speed granted to you from your Unarmored Movement feature.
- You add an extra roll of your Martial Arts die to Unarmed Strike attacks you make.
- You can use the empowered version of your Limit Techniques by using an additional 3 Limitless Ki. Using a technique this way immediately ends your Limitless State, and you must use an action to regain your use of it.
Pushing Limits
Starting at 11th level, your knowledge of your ki has massively increased from your use of the Limitless State. You can use normal ki features with Limitless Ki, and you gain two new Limitless Techniques.
Limitless Assault. As an action, you may spend 5 Limitless Ki to make a number of Unarmed Strike attacks equal to your prof. bonus against a creature within 10ft of you. If half or more of the attacks hit, the target can choose to either move or take an action on their next turn, not both. After the action is complete, the creature is knocked back 10ft for each attack that hit them.
Empowered. The range increases to 15ft, and you make two extra attacks. If the target is hit by half or more of the attacks they also can not take reactions until the end of their next turn.
Limitless Storm. As an action, you may spend 4 Limitless Ki to force all creatures of your choice within 30ft of you to make a Str saving throw. Creatures that failed are pulled within 5ft of you and take Force Damage equal to two rolls of your Unarmed Strike damage, then get knocked back 30ft, taking another roll of your Unarmed Strike damage in Force Damage. Ona a success, creatures take half damage and are not pulled or knocked back.
Empowered. The range is increased to 50ft, and you and affected creatures are also pulled 30ft into the air before getting knocked back 60ft. You take no fall damage from this movement.
No Limit
Starting at 17th level, you have mastered your use of Ki. Choose one of the first three features of your Empowered Limitless State, you are permanently under the chosen feature. (If the Temporary Hit Points are chosen, you regain them on a short or long rest.) Your Empowered Limitless State also gains the following benefits.
- You gain advantage on Dexterity and Wisdom saving throws.
- Your Dexterity and Wisdom scores are increased by 2.
- Ki Features you use can not be reacted to.
