Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

The Reaper subclass is a grim and formidable option available to those who follow the path of the martial classes. Drawn to death and the dark powers that govern it, Reapers are skilled warriors who have honed their abilities to deal with the inevitable end that awaits all living beings.

With their mastery of necrotic energy, Reapers are able to harness the power of death itself to strike down their foes. They are able to summon spectral weapons that can slice through flesh and bone with ease, and they can channel this energy through their strikes to deal additional damage. Additionally, Reapers are able to drain the life force of their enemies, healing themselves and dealing damage in the process.
At the highest levels of power, Reapers become avatars of death itself, able to strike down even the most powerful foes with a single blow.

However, those who choose to follow the path of the Reaper must be wary of the dangers that come with their power. The forces of death are not to be trifled with, and Reapers must be careful not to become consumed by their own desire for power. Those who are not careful may find themselves becoming twisted and corrupted, transformed into something more monstrous than they ever imagined.

Soul Reaper

At 3rd level, you gain the ability to tap into the power of the void, draining the life force of your enemies and using it to bolster your own strength. When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can expend a use of your Second Wind to deal additional necrotic damage equal to your fighter level. You also regain hit points equal to the damage dealt.

Shadow Strike

At 7th level, you can harness the shadows to teleport short distances and strike from unexpected angles. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. If you do, you can make one melee weapon attack against a creature within 5 feet of your destination.

Living Shadow

At 10th level, you can manifest a shadowy duplicate of yourself to aid you in combat. As an action, you can summon a living shadow within 10 feet of you. The shadow has hit points equal to your fighter level and can take any action you can, including attacking, using spells, and using class features. The shadow disappears after 1 minute or when reduced to 0 hit points. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses after a long rest.

Soul Sever

At 15th level, your attacks become infused with the power of the void, allowing you to sever the souls of your enemies. When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can choose to deal an additional 2d6 necrotic damage. If the creature is reduced to 0 hit points by this attack, its soul is severed and cannot be resurrected by any means short of a wish spell.

Harbinger of Doom

At 18th level, you become a harbinger of doom, spreading fear and despair among your enemies. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can choose to deal an additional 2d8 necrotic damage with each weapon attack you make until the end of your turn. Additionally, creatures within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw against your fighter spell save DC or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
